The ride back my mind was racing. Was James right about Ryan or was he trying to manipulate the situation again?.
But I do remember Ryan coming to see me and let me know he was the father. He didn't show any paperwork to prove that.
I had to make a stop before I go home. Making a U turn and driving in the opposite direction.
About 20 mins later I made it to the doctors office. The same doctors who did the DNA test. I hoped they could give a copy of the results.
"Welcome to Doctors United, how can I help you?", the receptionist asked.
"Yes, I was wondering by any chance if you could give me a copy of my paternity results. The name is Cassie--".
"Oh yes! I have those results here actually I was about to file it", she bent down to the box on the floor and took out the papers. "Here you go!".
"Thank you", I took the paper and walked outside back to my car. I took a deep breath before flipping over the paper.
In the case of Cassie W, James is the 99.99999% the father of the unborn child
Shit!, he was right. I closed my eyes for a second to soak up this information.
In Ryan's case, why the fuck would he lie to me about all of this?. And why is everything James was saying was making sense now?. I just stared at the paper one more time.
My phone buzzed and I saw it was Ryan calling me. I quickly glanced at the clock and noticed it was getting late.
"Hello", I shoved the paper on my secret compartment in my purse.
"Where are you?", he sounded so annoyed.
"I was driving and passed by this baby store and I had to stop in here to check it out", as I lied.
"Oh, well come home it's getting late".
"I'll be home soon", I nervously smiled and hung up the phone. What did I get myself into?. What if Ryan actually killed my mother?. I'm going to be in a house with a murderer.
Needing to talk to someone other than James or Ryan. I pulled out my phone and pressed Marissa name on my contact list. I pressed the Bluetooth so it could connect with my radio. That way I can drive and talk.
"Are you in labor?!".
"No, but I'm overwhelmed at the moment", the tears started falling.
"Cassie?'what's wrong?".
"I met with James and he told me some crazy stuff. And he wasn't lying".
"Wait?, hold up?. You met up with the same man who kidnapped you and tried to kill you?!. Are you crazy too?".
"I know, I know I told myself the same thing driving up there. But what he told me..."
"What did he say?. I can only imagine how he could try and manipulate you".
"He told me he was the father of my child. And that Ryan was the one who killed my mother. Trying to basically get me without any road blocks".
"These two aren't tired enough of playing games with you?. And how can we be sure James is the father?".
"Well to make sure I got a copy of the test results and he's right. But now I don't know what to do abut Ryan".
"Shit!, I wish I could give you some answers or suggestions but he's dangerous and crazy. That type of shit isn't in my department of advice".
"He already called me asking where I'm at?. I didn't tell him I went to see James or that I know the truth".
"Good girl!. Just keep doing what you're doing and try and not make him upset or mad. If James doesn't figure out something then I will. And even though I don't like either of the two I'm happy James is the father cause Ryan is too weird for me".
"Anyway thank you for listening but I have to go inside now and I know he's waiting for me".
"Any time. Just try and not get yourself all stressed out", she ended the call and I slowly got out the car and walked inside.
Taking in a deep breath I opened the door and walked inside.
"Took you long enough to get home. How far was that store?", he just sat in the recliner with hands on his forehead.
"It's pretty far and the store has so many things I couldn't just leaf without looking at everything", I walked around him and put my bag on the table.
"Cassie, you wouldn't lie to me right?". Why is he asking me this?. Oh crap, he knows.
"No, why would I?. I haven't lied to you before so why would I start now?", I turned to him as he came close to me.
"Good point. I just wanted to make sure I can trust you", he placed his palm on my belly. "How's the baby?".
"She's fine", how awkward is this right now?. Asking about a baby that's not yours but your brothers.
"Good, now give me a kiss", I hesitated before leaning in giving him what he wanted. Before he walked off he turned to me again with a questionable look. "Oh umm.. Why were you in Chester?, there's nothing but a prison up there".
"That's where the store is", I lied.
"Right, I don't know why I thought you went to visit my brother. I got to relax".
"I didn't even know he was up there", he stared at me that's when I noticed his eyes turned dark.
"If I ever find out you went to see him... Knowing what he did to you and our child. I'll have to punish you. Smarten up Cassie".
He smiled and walked into the room. I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding.
My phone buzzed again...
Cassie he knows you came to see me!. You need to leave him!.
