Welp you guys wanted me to end it... And I wanted to end it as well so here you go... Well not necessarily.
(Six months later)
"James, really?" I asked.
"What? She looks cute" as he placed a kiss on London's cheek.
"She's going to be uncomfortable" I suggested.
"Not my princess".
I shook my head as I got ready myself. Today was the day London would be baptized. Figuring six months is an appropriate time to get it done.
"Come on let's go before we are late" James said.
"I'm coming don't rush me!" I yelled back.
"You look amazing. You don't need to do anymore to yourself" he smiled.
"Well thank you" I blushed.
We head out to the church to meet up with everyone who we invited. Pulling up I see everyone was there just waiting on us. As usual.
"About damn time you guys got here. It's hot out here. Making me sweat out my press" Marisa said.
"It's because your girl over here is never on time m. Ever since she worked for me she was never on time".
"Oh shut up both of you and let's go inside" I rushed passed them with London in my arms.
After watching my baby girl being baptized all I could think about is how I wish my mom could be here. The emotions were starting to come back. My mother funeral was months ago but it feels like it was yesterday. That day was tough. Thank god James was with me.
I do have to say from the James I knew from before to the guy who's with me now are two different people. Even when we share the crazy stories of what we went through he can't believe he's done half the shit he's done to me.
"Hey the after party is where again?" James asked.
"At the Italian restaurant... You know the one you like. I forgot the name".
"Oh, Angelos?" He asked.
I nodded and he continued talking on his phone. Staring at him just amazed how we happen to come this far.
He ended up divorcing his wife who tried cleaning him out of everything. But little did she know he had a very good lawyer. So she didn't get anything. He kept the house and everything that was in it.
Mentioning we should sell the house and move because that's a little weird living there. He agreed but we'll see what happens.
Ryan... Well Ryan is in prison for a long time. I was wishing he didn't have a trial but he did and I had to testify. The look on his face when I testified still stays with me. It's like he has no soul. And why didn't I see that before... Well that mask he had on was on tight.
"Are we going or no?" Marisa asked.
"Yeah just let me change London's diaper and then we out".
"Can just never be on time, damn I guess it's true black people are just never on time".
"Oh stop" I rolled my eyes.
"It's true you're in denial".
"Whatever".
During the reception a lot of people was drinking and just having a good time. London was just being passed around as people blessed her. I smiled just watching everyone get along.
Feeling arms wrap around my waist I smiled.
"Having a good time?".
"Yeah it turned out good".
"Good. As long as your happy I'm happy" he kissed my forehead and disappeared in the crowd.
"Cassie, what kind of after party is this for a christening?. Cause it feels more like a party for you guys".
"Marisa just shut up and enjoy the party!".
"I am enjoying myself but you two think your slick. But I see you" she laughed. "Where my god baby at?".
Laughing to myself I walked over to the table to make sure things were still straight.
"Excuse me, Excuse me.... Okay can you guys shut the hell up I'm trying to do something here" James said.
"You don't have to be rude!" Marisa yelled.
"Anyway I want to thank everyone for coming to celebrate our baby girl London Sadé. She appreciated every one of you for coming"
Everyone cheered and clapped.
"I was thinking on the way here today if I was actually going to follow through with this. I almost didn't because I wasn't sure. But seeing Cassie with London just confirmed it for me. Cassie come here"
I turned around confused walked up to James.
"What are you doing?. Are you drunk?".
"Shut up Cassie!. Okay so I know my past with Cassie isn't that great and most of you hate me already. But I've proven over time that she can trust me and not be afraid of me. Everyday just looking at her makes me love her even more than I already do".
"I knew from the first time I laid eyes on her that I had to have her. If I could rewind time I would've approached her differently than I did. But now through our love for each other we have a beautiful baby girl who I adore everyday".
"What I'm saying is... Cassie will you marry me?" As he dropped down to one knee holding it a red velvet box.
I stood there frozen... I wanted to answer him but I felt my mouth move but no words were coming out.
"Cassie answer the crazy man" Marisa yelled.
Every memory and traumatic experience flashed through my mind like a rewinding tape. Was I ready to marry James?.
