"Wake up, Eve. You're going to miss breakfast, you have twenty minutes," Eve opened her eyes to see a flustered Lily staring down at her as she gripped her shoulders.
"Fine, fine, you go without me. I'll come down once I'm dressed." Lily smiled at Eve, pleased that she had finally woken her up. She left the room with Alice and Marlene following her tiredly.
Eve quickly got dressed before heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast. It was the third of November, meaning it was Sirius' birthday. She frowned as she thought of the fight they had two nights ago. None of the boys had talked to her since then, not even James. She walked through the halls silently, wondering how long it would be before one of them caved in and they started talking again.
She walked into the noisy Great Hall with 10 minutes left before everyone had to leave for classes. As she walked in, she saw James, Sirius, and Remus sitting together, talking and laughing like nothing was wrong. They all stopped talking as she walked by, but they didn't do anything besides stare at her. Eve was almost past them when she stopped and hesitantly turned around.
"Have a good birthday, Sirius," she mumbled as she looked towards the ground, not wanting to see their expressions as they talked.
"Yeah, thanks for the new bat," he replied simply before turning his back to her and beginning a new conversation with James. James made eye contact with her for a moment before shaking his head, while Remus stared at her with an unreadable expression.
Eve frowned as she walked away and sat down next to Lily, with Marlene and Alice across from them.
Lily turned to Eve and looked over her shoulder, "I think they're whispering about you. They keep looking over here."
Eve frowned for a moment before she began smirking, "No, they're probably talking about you and how much Pr- James is in love with you," she laughed.
Suddenly a very nice looking Ravenclaw who looked to be in his sixth or seventh year walked up and sat in the vacant spot next to Eve, "Hey, Eve right?" He paused as Eve nodded her head hesitantly to confirm his question, "I'm Theo Warren, and I, well, this might sound kind of creepy, but I've been wanting to talk to you ever since I saw you get sorted. You're very pretty," he smiled lightly as he rubbed his hands together in nervousness.
Eve blushed a red more vibrant than Lily's hair and was going to speak up before Lily threw her arm around Eve's shoulder and spoke up for her, "It's going to take a lot more than randomly walking up and calling her pretty to get our approval, try again."
Eve gasped, "Lily! Why-"
Theo cut Eve off as he smiled brightly at Lily, "It's okay, I know some excellent pick up lines. Prepare yourselves, ladies," his deep voice announced, causing Alice and Marlene to giggle like 5 year olds, Eve to blush even harder if possible, and Lily to narrow her eyes at the boy in a protective manner.
"I've rearranged the alphabet to put U and I next to each other," the Ravenclaw grinned brightly at his pickup line, clearly proud of having thought of it.
Eve suddenly smirked, "Oh, well I think the alphabet is perfect how it is with N and O next to each other." Lily laughed loudly as Alice and Marlene quietly "Oohed."
His eyes widened as he quickly thought of another one, "Um, uh....you know, you look a lot like my next girlfriend."
Eve laughed easily, "Okay, and you look exactly like the guy I turn down ten seconds from now."
