"Hey, Eve, are you nervous for the game?" She stopped petting Callisto and turned around when she heard Remus' voice, only to see her brother and Sirius were with him as well.
"Nah, I was actually thinking that if we beat the Slytherins today we should go to the kitchen afterwards," she shrugged.
They all appeared confused, and James spoke up, "Why the kitchen?"
Eve smirked, "Well, we need to get some kitchen grease to throw it on Snivellus so the rest of him can finally match his hair." After being at Hogwarts for a while, Eve had come to dislike Severus just as much as her brother. After all, he tried to hex her shortly after what happened with Peter, and she hadn't ever even spoken a word to him so he had no reason at all to come after her.
The three boys grinned back at her as Sirius clapped James on the back as the latter wiped fake tears from under his glasses, "I've never been more proud to be your brother," James fake sniffled.
It was now Halloween, meaning that nearly a month had gone by since Peter was expelled. Eve had basically taken his place in the group, all the while becoming much better friends with her roommates. Just last week she took a test - a very big test - which she passed, which meant that she was officially caught up with her grade level.
Several weeks ago had been Quidditch tryouts. She wasn't sure about it at first, but her new friends convinced her to try out for seeker. When other people learned that Eve was trying out for a team where her brother was captain, many began training for other positions instead. But there were two others who went up against Eve. However, Eve was able to deceive them just as well as she had Sirius, and everyone knew she was fairly given the title of Gryffindor Seeker.
And today just so happened to be her first game against Slytherin. She wasn't too happy that it was on Halloween, as that had never been a very lucky day for her, and now it's also the day James is supposed to die. But she shook off their feeling and walked out of the room with the boys and to the girls locker room to change. Her and a 6th year named Luana Grellim, the team's keeper, were the only two girls on the Gryffindor team, and the Slytherin team only had one girl, a chaser who's name Eve didn't know, so the locker room was fairly quiet since only Eve and Luana were talking.
Eve and Luana changed quickly, wanting to get away from the Slytherin girl's harsh glare, and left the locker room with their brooms. Once they stepped outside Eve could see the large stands filling up with two houses colors and she grew nervous and pale at the sight of so many people. Suddenly someone was hugging her, and she smiled when she recognized the familiar chocolatey scent of Remus. Although she had a grown a lot closer to him, he still had yet to tell her about him being a werewolf, which she completely understood.
"You'll do fine, don't worry. If you're anything like your brother, you'll do great out there," Eve smiled at his encouraging words, "Oh, and don't forget about what we're doing if you win," he added with a chuckle. She knew that Remus wasn't particularly fond of Severus, but he didn't necessarily enjoy teasing him like Sirius and James do. She knew he was only saying that to make her feel better.
Eve pulled back from the hug and grinned up at him, "Thanks, Remus. I'll see you after the game!" And with that, Luana pulled Eve away from Remus and over to a private room where James could give his "amazing and wonderful pregame speech" or whatever he liked to call it.
"Took you two long enough. You'd think you were dressing up for one of the balls or something," James mumbled moodily as they walked in.
"I remember you took a full hour longer to get ready than your date to the Halloween ball last year, Potter, so I'd watch what I say," Luana threw back, making Eve laugh and begin to come up with ways to use it against him as James blushed.
