Chapter 13

I hummed a childhood song as I rocked Ana to sleep. She already has her diaper changed and fed. Jasmine and Drew were playing and running around the house, while Lucas was in the game room. Lately I felt like I was a single parent. Lucas created a routine when he came from the studio, he would come home, eat and play video games, completely ignoring me and the kids. I've tried talking to him in a polite way and when that way didn't go as planned, I yelled at him. It still didn't work. I laid Ana on the bed and turned on the baby monitor, then walked out.

I was slowly gaining a headache from all the yelling. These kids had an unlimited amount of energy, that I couldn't keep up with.

Later the same day, Lucas was still playing his videos game. It was 8:00 at night and I finally put the kids to sleep. I stood in front of the tv with my hands on my hips.

"Lucas?"

He tilted his body to the right to look at the screen. I closed my eyes and counted to 10.

"Lucas!"

He looked at me for a quick second and back at the video game. I reached behind the tv and unplugged it along with the ps4.

"What's wrong with you?" He said putting his hands up

"Now that I have your fucking attention, why have you been ignoring me?"

"What are you talking about? I haven't been ignoring you"

"Oh really? So when I was calling your name earlier, you wasn't ignoring me?"

He opened his mouth to say something but I didn't want excuses. I turned around and went the bedroom, placed a pillow and cover on the floor and locked the door. His ass can sleep on the couch. I roughly fluffed my pillow and let my head hit the pillow.

"Bae, I'm sorry I ignored you, please open the door?"

Two can play the game. I acted like I didn't hear him and tried to go to sleep.

"Destynie, I know you ain't asleep"

The door knob jiggled a little then I heard his footsteps go downstairs.

Grabbing my phone off the nightstand I texted Sione.

Me: Sione u up?

Me: do you mind having drew stay over at your house while I visit Will in Baltimore?

| Sione 😛 | no I don't. did something happened with Lucas?

Me: He wasn't paying attention to me when I tried talking to him and it was like 10 something and the kids were still up running around when they were supposed to be asleep already and they haven't even taken their bath yet and on top of that the house was a mess. I need to get away from things for a little bit.

| Sione 😛 | did he even try to apologize?

Me: he was just saying sorry for me to open the door. He's not slick and Ik his tricks.

| Sione 😛| give him the silent treatment but at the same time he should already know this

Me: exactly. I'll be leaving on Wednesday and make please make sure that Lucas doesn't see drew. He needs to know how it feels to be ignored and not wanted.

I clicked the sleep button on my phone and put it back on charge and went to sleep.
