-----------------------------------------

Seamus returned to the dorm early in the morning, ready to take a shower and get ready for the day. He'd just spent little over 3 hours with Pomfrey, studying the body and influences on ones magical core. He'd arranged it Sunday afternoon, just after his therapy session with Ron. Those were going well, he hadn't seen Ron attempt to hex anyone lately, even Malfoy.

Seamus headed down to breakfast early, resolving to eat all of the honey-rolls before anyone else got there. A smile crept to his face.

-----------------------------------------

"Merlin, Where are all the honey-rolls?" Ron was looking around, the empty platter glistening through it's sticky residue. Seamus tried to hide a grin. He wasn't even that full.

"So Ron, give any thought to wha' Smythe suggested?" Seamus wiped honey off his cheek, hoping Ron wouldn't notice. "Dean could tutor you."

"I'm bloody horrible at Divination anyways. I have nothing to lose, so I figured I'd give it a go." Ron nodded.

"Great! So come with us to class today, we're startin' the elective piece of the course. I'm sure you ca' catch up easy. Most of it was 5th and 6th year review."

"Okay." Ron frowned at Seamus, "So why'd you eat all of the honey-rolls?"

Seamus grinned, but didn't say anything more until Harry and Dean joined them at breakfast.

-----------------------------------------

Seamus and Harry sat alone at their usually desk in DADA class. Ron and Dean sat behind them, with multiple Hufflepuff girls opting out of the elective part of the course there were many open desks.

The remaining students were Harry, Dean, Seamus, Ron, Justin, Ernie, two Gryffindor girls, and a Hufflepuff boy.

"Good morning class! I'm glad to see so many of you stayed. This part of the course is rigorous." Lupin grinned and rubbed his hands together. "Now, question. What is the easiest charm to perform?"

Justin's hand rose into the air.

"Yes, Mr. Finch-Fletchley?"

"The levitation charm, sir."

"Correct! 3 points to Hufflepuff. Today we'll be practicing this charm. Please everyone, come collect a feather."

All eight students were now sitting at their desks, each with a feather in front of them.

"Now, class, wands away." Lupin grinned at his students.

"I thought we were levitating the feathers?" Ron asked, not even raising his hand.

"We are, Ron. Wands away." Lupin smiled. "We're learning wandless magic this half. We will progress through lower level charms and jinxes first. Then we'll work on higher level spells. For the beginning of the course, I'd like you to hold your hand like so." He held out his hand. His fingers were lax and drooping. "Use your hand as if it were a wand first, it helps properly direct your energy. You'll gain a feel for it this way. Begin trying now."

Seamus swished his hand, splayed and comfortable, and flicked it. "Windgardium Leviosa."

It didn't even flutter, unlike Harry's feather, which levitated quickly into the air.
