The Storm

Chapter 7

About a week later Miguel and I were over by the ocean. It's getting dark out, and there is a fire in front of me. Miguel is catching some fish, and I'm sitting on the sand.

My legs are pulled up to my chest. He came out of the water and started cooking the fish he caught. He sat next to me. "Jessica..." He began to say but I cut him off.

"I'm fine." I said looking at him with a smile. "So, stop worrying so much."

"Sorry but I'm going to worry about you. I know that you were really close to Coco." He said grabbing my hand. "I just want you to know that I love you, and I will always be here for you."

"Where else would you go? We are stuck on this island, and no one is going to find us." I said as tears started to form in my eyes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be like that. I just-"

"I know you miss your home, and I promise I will get you back to your family." He said lifting my chin and wiping away my tears. "So, please don't cry."

"Okay." I said hugging him. He smiled and hugged back. Then, he finished cooking the fish. We ate and then I leaned against his shoulder. He wrapped and arm around my shoulders.

I started to fall asleep. "I promise. I will get you home, no matter what." I heard him say before I fell asleep. Then, I drifted into sleep.

"Good morning." Miguel said as I woke up. I smiled at him.

"Good morning." I said yawning a little. We kissed and I blushed when we pulled away. We both stood, and started to go into the woods.

I watched silently as Miguel hunted a wild boar. He slit its throat killing it. We then cooked it and ate it. We went back to Coco's grave.

There was an arrow through the rock. The next thing I know me and Miguel fell to the ground, and blacked out.

When I awoke I saw Miguel tied to the wall of a hut that we are in. He looked up at me and I realized he has a lot of bruises and cuts. "Run.... Jessica..." He said with a weak voice.

I heard laughing behind me. "Your going to be the entertainment tonight. I need to make sure you know to call everyone master first." Damian said with a smirk.

My eyes opened wide in fear. "Ma-master?" I asked as he cupped one of my cheeks with his hand.

"That's right. I'm one of your masters." He said looking over at Miguel. Miguel was glaring, but he honestly looked really bad. I noticed that Damian had a bloody knife.

"What did you do to Miguel?" I asked my voice soft and scared. He smirked looking back at me.

"He won't be our dinner for tonight, but if he does die I need to make sure his meat will still taste good tomorrow. He won't die before the entertainment is over though. I want him to watch everything we do to you." He said then left the hut.

"Jessica. Run now." Miguel said looking at me. I stood and ran over to him.

"I'm not leaving you." I said as I started to untie his hands.

"I'm to beat up. Just leave me here. I'll catch up soon." He said as I finishes untying his hands. We heard yelling from outside.

"Where is Miguel? We have come to bring him back to the military!" A very loud man's voice said. Miguel slowly stood and I helped him to his feet.

We heard guns go off. A few men ran into the hut. They brought us to a ship. Miguel and I were put into a room, where they patch up his wounds and let him heal.

"Miguel how did they-" I began to say but he cut me off.

"I was able to establish contact with them a few nights ago. I promised you I would get you home. Well, your going home Jessica." He said smiling. I hugged him. "Ow. Still sore."

"Sorry, but thank you Miguel. Thank you." I said a few tears streaming down my cheek. He looked at me worriedly.

"Don't cry, please." He said as I gently hugged him. He smiled. "I'm glad your happy."

A few hours later we reached the port of my town. My parents were waiting at the dock. I ran off the boat and hugged them. Miguel walked following me. He smiled when he saw me hugging my parents.

"Are you the one that protected our daughter?" My mom asked as he shook his head yes.

"My name is Miguel." He said shaking their hands.
