The Storm

Chapter 11

Some movers brought furniture in. "Miguel, how did you afford all of this?" I asked looking up at him.

"I earn enough, don't worry." He said smiling at me. When they were done we sat on the couch. I hugged him and he laughed. "Comfortable?"

"Yes." I said smiling. He pulled out a folder and started to look through some things. "What's that?"

"Information to help me find whoever is after you." He responded not looking away from the paper. I cuddled up to him with Ace and fell asleep.

A few hours later I woke up and the lamp next to him was on. He was still looking through the paper then he sighed. "Nothing in this is useful. No matter how many times I look at it."

"Have you even gotten any sleep?" I asked quietly. He looked at me for a second.

"I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" He asked as I shook my head no. He smiled gently then pat my head. "I was about to go to sleep."

He picked me up and carried me to a room with a queen size bed. I blushed when I realized we would be sharing a bed. "I hope you don't mind that we will be sharing a bed." I shook my head no. We did cuddle a lot together on the island.

When he got into the bed with me, he kissed my forehead. He muttered "goodnight" then fell asleep. While he was sleeping he pulled me into his arms. I blushed and smiled, pulling my head up a bit then kissing him.

"Goodnight, Miguel." I said then fell asleep. I woke up to smell bacon, pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Getting out of bed, I quickly got changed into a blue blouse and jeans.

When I got downstairs I walked to the kitchen to see Miguel cooking. I walked up behind him quietly and hugged him. He smiled as I rested my head on his back. "Good morning, Jessica." He said as I laughed.

"Good morning." I said as he put the food from the pan onto plates. He put the pan back on the stove and turned it off. Miguel turned around wrapping his arms around me.

"I love you." He said kissing my forehead. He put the plates on the table, and we sat. When I finished eating I picked up the plates, rinsing them off.

"It tasted delicious, thank you." I said as he walked behind me and wrapped his arms around me. "I love you Miguel."

 "I love you too. I need to go, promise you'll stay here. If anything happens, call me." He said as I nodded. I kissed him before he  left, then sat on the couch for a while, watching TV. I sigh then lay on my side. It's so quiet without Miguel. Closing my eyes, I decided to take a nap.

When I woke up there was a man standing above me. "I hear Miguel has been looking for me since I broke into your house." He said as I quickly back away. The wall was cold, and I look around. This place looks abandoned.

"Where am I...?" I asked shaking.

"In my lab." He said smirking. "Lets run a few test."

There was a needle in his hand and I started shaking. "Miguel!" I screamed as there was banging on the door.

"Damn, he found me to quickly." He said looking at the door. I to looked at the door as the banging continued. Miguel broke through the door, and glared at him.

"Devin." Miguel said angrily. Devin smirked pulling a gun out of his back pocket. I looked at him scared. He had that the entire time...? When he pointed it at me, my eyes grew wide.

"I'm disappointed, Miguel. It took you this long to figure out it was me?" Devin sighed.
