Scourge sharpened the eaten mouse's bones with his claws as he lay in the allyway. Where was he? He knew his best friend, Ashfur, was having trouble with that ginger she-cat, Squirrelflight, but... he was always on time! Worry hung like a stone in Scourge's stomach. Should I go looking for him? He wondered.
Scourge let out a big sigh and decided against it. Maybe he's just running late. Just the thought, however, that his friend was in trouble, was too much for the young male. Just as he was about to stand up and dash into the ThunderClan forest, a gray shape flew over the ally wall.
"Ashfur! You're late, are you alright?" Scourge exclaimed.
Ashfur walked past Scourge and stopped short of the mouse, about two tail-lenghs away. "No... No, I'm not..."
Scourge studied his body, making a mental remark about how well he was built, but looking for blood. "You don't look hurt though..."
Ashfur turned around and sat down, holding Scourge's gaze. Scourge found himself getting lost in Ashfur's icy blue eyes, which were now full of hurt, and betrayal. "Is it the girl?" Scourge asked, his voice more of a snarl than intended.
Ashfur half-closed his eyes and nodded, looking down at his paws. "She... She chose him..." His muscles tensed, and his claws dug into the ground. "Over me." He growled.
Scourge was immediatly at his friend's side, wrapping his tail around him, and pushing himself gently into his fur. The closeness was enough to make his pelt heat up, but he stayed, hoping to give his friend some comfort. To his surprise, Ashfur turned over into Scourge's fur and he could hear muffled sobs coming from him.
It pulled his heart apart to see his friend like this. He wrapped an arm around Ashfur and pulled him closer, starting to feel his tears soak through his pelt. "Hey, you... You don't need her."
Ashfur glanced up at Scourge. "W-What do you mean...?"
Scourge fell silent for a moment, and thought. Should I ask... for him to stay with me...?
"Hm?" Ashfur's voice tore him away from the thought.
"Well... I have a place for you to stay... if you want to... live here, with me." Scourge offered.
Ashfur narrowed his eyes. "No. I know that seeing them together is going to hurt, but I can't leave ThunderClan... that's my home... I... I can't..."
Scourge sensed this was going to make Ashfur even more upset. "Shh shh, okay, okay. I won't make you do something you can't. I can't show my face in ThunderClan if Firestar is still leader. Heh. He thought he killed me, see?"
"Yeah, I remember you talking about that. I remember the warriors coming home from that battle when I was a kit. I was scared the rouges had followed them..." Ashfur recalled.
"Here, lay down in my nest for now, you need a rest. Talk to me about what happened." Scourge guided Ashfur to his nest and curled up beside him, relishing in the heat pulsing from both of their pelts. It sheilded away the frosty air. As Ashfur began his story, Scourge couldn't help but stare into Ashfur's eyes as he spoke, his gaze hardening and softening at certain points of the story.
When Ashfur was done explaining what happened, Scourge apologized, and started grooming his friend. "What are you doing?" Ashfur asked, confused.
Scourge paused and said, "What? Is it wrong for me to groom you? I found when you're being groomed, you feel a little better. Bone used to groom me, so why can't I groom you?"
Ashfur's gaze softened, and he let out a purr. "Nevermind."
Scourge smiled and continued. "So... I know it's a fragile subject, but... Your siblings." Ashfur murmured. "Don't you want revenge on them for the way they treated you?"
Scourge stopped licking and just stared at the ground, speechless. He didn't like to talk about his siblings. Scourge let out a sigh. "Yeah, I guess so. All I wanted was for them to love me, but..." Scourge trailed off, looking in the direction of his old twoleg house. He imagined his siblings, happy now that he was gone. Sudden hatred enveloped him. "They never did." He growled.
Ashfur lay his head back down. "I understand." He whispered.
Scourge blinked in surprise. Is he going to sleep here tonight...? I best not question it.
And with that, Scourge lay his head down next to Ashfur's and listened as his breathing drew slower, until he was asleep.
I'm sorry, I've just seen a lot of Scourge x Ashfur pictures lately, and I've come to ship it myself. So this is going to be a mini-series I guess. I need to start making timelines for my stories. XD
