Scourge woke up the next day next to Ashfur. Ashfur was awake already and gave Scourge a small lick on the cheek. "Morning." He said, trying to sound cheerful.

Scourge grinned. "Morning." He said, yawning. He flexed his sprained paw and hissed in pain. Ashfur stood up. "Do you need me to get you some poppy or something for that?"

Scourge shook his head. "I can deal with it." He growled. He clenched his teeth and stood up slowly, balancing his weight between his paws. He gave a small cough, and took a step. White pain shot up his leg and he cursed to himself. He tried not to let Ashfur see, but knew he saw it anyway. He dashed away into the medicine cat den, coming back with Jayfeather.

Jayfeather had some herbs in his mouth, and he spat them on the ground. He instructed Scourge to lay down, and he gave his splint a change of materials, and gave him some painkillers, against his will. When Jayfeather left, Scourge scoffed. "Rude, much?"

"He just doesn't trust having someone who tried taking over the whole forest being in his home." Ashfur said. "Give him some time. He'll learn you're legit, I promise." Ashfur promised, nuzzling Scourge's neck slightly. The touch was enough to warm up Scourge's pelt. He let out a small purr.

"Okay. I trust you." He said. Ashfur nodded. Scourge flexed his paw again and didn't want to admit it felt better this time. Scourge let out a sigh and plopped back down into the sand. "You okay?" Ashfur asked.

Scourge nodded. "Yeah. Just... bored. What do you guys do for fun?"

"Fun?" Ashfur asked, thinking. "There usually isn't much time for fun. We can go for a walk if you want."

Scourge stood back up, wincing. "That'd be nice." He purred.

"So why did you want to take over the forest again?" Ashfur asked, wanting to hear the story again.

Scourge sighed. "Well, back when I was leader, there wasn't enough food for everyone. We were starving, and needed more hunting space. When Tigerstar came to me, the idea started to turn in my head. I could fix the food problem, and get revenge." The pair turned a corner, headed to the ancient oak. "When I was invited to the forest to fight for Tigerstar, I told my clan-"

"Be prepared for anything!" Ashfur butted in, exclaiming it like a child being read a book. Scourge giggled.

"Yes. Be prepared for anything. That's all I told them. They knew not to attack unless I told them to. When the day came, I challenged Tigerstar. 'My clan and I fight when we choose.' I said. 'I will think about what you said, Firestar. There will be no battle today." Scourge paused, thinking he could get a giggle out of Ashfur. He jumped in front of him and continued his story.

"Tigerstar lost his patience," Scourge said, his voice low, and husky. "and he lunged at me, like this!" Scourge leapt at Ashfur, and Ashfur ducked. "But, I dodged him, and swiped at his shoulder, causing him to fall over." He demonstrated on Ashfur by shoving his shoulder and pinning him down on his back. "Then..." Scourge raised a paw, the sunlight gleaming on his claws. "I put my claw right here," He placed his paw on Ashfur's chest, placing his claws on his neck, right above the vain. "and I felt his pulse."

Scourge leaned into Ashfur's ear and whispered, "and then, I pressed my claws into his neck." He gently tangled his claws in Ashfur's fur, and slowly pulled his paw downwards. This whole time, Ashfur was dying of laughter. "and I ripped him open from the neck down." Scourge could feel the warmth of Ashfur's pelt, and it was comforting. For the first time in his life, he found comfort in warmth, and not blood.

When Ashfur and Scourge padded back into camp, the camp was quiet. The autumn sun warmed the backs of the cats, and Scourge shook his pelt. Scourge plopped down on the ground in the middle of camp, letting out a content sigh. Ashfur layed down next to his and snuggled close. Scourge could feel the stares around them, and he knew they still hated him. He shrugged it off. He didn't care.

Ashfur started grooming him and he started purring, the combination of the sun and Ashfur's tounge across his fur relaxing him. A troubled thought entered his head, however."Um... Ashfur?"

Ashfur paused before responding, "What is it?"

"...How long will I be staying here?"

"I don't know."

"Any clue?" Ashfur shook his head.

"Why?"

"...I never want to leave..." Scourge confessed.

"...I never want you to leave either." Ashfur agreed. Happiness brimmed on Scourge's eyes.

"Really?"

Ashfur gave a nod. "You're my... closest friend, so... why wouldn't I?" Ashfur spoke carefully.

Scourge felt his cheeks warm up. "Closest friend?"

"...My only friend."

"...I've never had a friend before..."

"Well you're doing really good." Ashfur touched noses with Scourge. "I'm surprised you warmed up to me as fast as you did. You did try to kill me though!" Ashfur scoffed playfully. "...Why didn't you kill me?" Ashfur asked curiously.

Scourge didn't want to answer the question. I thought you were handsome... "I don't know. I just felt like there was something important you had to say to me, I guess."

"Well I'm glad. You've helped me through a lot, you know."

Scourge nodded. "I know." He cast an angry glance at Squirrelflight. "I know." He growled. Ashfur picked up grooming Scourge again to try and calm him back down. Scourge forced his fur to lay flat. "I'm sorry. You just didn't deserve that."

Ashfur shrugged. "I don't know. I guess I did, but-"

"No. You didn't. You deserve so much better..." It took all of his strength to keep from saying his ideas out loud. ...Like me. You deserve me.

"I know. But I can't get that around here." Ashfur growled under his breath. Yes you can! I'm right here!

Scourge sighed. "Maybe... isn't it like... against Clan Code to go with another Clan cat?"

Ashfur nodded. "Unfortunantly." The pair were silent for a while longer. Scourge felt like he was about to explode. His mind was reeling in emotions. Voice after voice made itself heard, why he should leave, why he should tell Ashfur how he really feels, why he should stay quiet. He put his head between his paws and shut his eyes tightly.

"...You okay?" Ashfur nudged Scourge and Scourge snapped his head up.

"I... yeah. I'm fine." Scourge nodded.

Why can't I just tell him already?

Fluffs? Yes, I think this qualifies as fluffs. :33

I'm happy about this. <3
