"I don't understand why you just have to leave, Y/N." Anders states, as you're saying goodbye to him.
"I told you this before, Anders, my dad got a job transfer. It's in a better city and things'll just be better." You say, a hint of doubt in your tone.
"But I love you." He whispers. You frown as tears sting your eyes. You look away and try to blink them away, but instead they splatter down your cheeks.
"I love you too." You cry quietly. Anders pulls you into his arms and lets out a sigh.
"Will I ever see you again?" He asks.
You sigh. "I hope so." You whisper. "Don't forget me." You say, cupping his face.
"Of course I won't forget you." Anders says, before kissing you passionately.
"Come on, Y/N, we need to go!" Your mom exclaims, from inside the car.
You pull away from Anders with a gasp just as rain starts to fall from the sky. "I love you with all my heart, Anders Johnson." You say.
"And I love you, Y/N L/N." He says, his eyes filling with tears. You turn on your heel and run for the car, silently choking on your sobs.

---

Ten years later, you're standing on Anders' front porch, butterflies fluttering nervously around in your stomach.
"Y/N." Anders breathe, after opening up the front door. "You're here." He whispers in shock. You smile at him and nod.
After you moved away, Anders and you kept in touch for about two years before, eventually, your relationship with him dwindled down to nothing. Now you moved back to town.
"Come-come in." Anders ushers in, stepping aside. You awkwardly walk into his house, feeling a little at ease. "I haven't seen you in such a long time." Anders states.
"Ten years." You clarify, wincing. He nods and motions for you to sit down. "So what've you been doing all this time? We have so much to catch up on. How're your brothers?" You ask.
"My brothers are doing well. All doing their own stuff." He answers, scratching his head.
"I heard you own a PR company." You state, brightening up.
"Mhmm." Anders nods. You frown at his apparent lack of interest in you. Your eyebrows draw and you decide to dive in headlong to the question you're dying to ask.
"So, get a girlfriend after we broke it off?" You ask without flinching.
"Um, just some here and there, I guess. Nothing ever too serious." Anders replies, picking at a loose string on a throw blanket.
You clench your draw and mentally berate yourself for coming back to this town. You thought you could just pick up where you left off with him, but apparently that isn't the case. Anders has changed. He isn't the same man you once knew. The man you fell in love with.
"Well, I'm going to go." You say, pushing yourself off the couch. Anders finally looks at you and you see disappoint crossing into his eyes.
"So soon?" He asks softly. Your eyebrows draw quizzically.
"Um, yeah, I need to finish unpacking." You say, walking towards his door.
"Well, if you ever need any help, just send me a text or call." Anders says, smiling at you. You look away from him.
"Yep." You say simply, before walking out of his house.

---

"Hey, Y/N! Wait up!" A voice says, as you start to walk into your apartment building. You still and turn around, seeing Colin Gundersen. You sigh as you see him coming towards you.
"Hi, Colin." You say, none too happily.
"I can't believe you're in town. I haven't seen you since we were teenagers." He states, stepping in front of you. You nod.
"Yeah, it's been a while." You reply.
"How're Anders and you? I remember you guys used to be a pair." He says.
"Yeah, uh, Anders and I are over now." You say quietly, looking down.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Colin says, though sounding almost relieved. He moves closer to you and you immediately stiffen, looking at him. "You know, I'm not Anders, but if you got to know me, I think you'd feel the same way about me as you do Anders." He states.
Your eyes widen in horror as Colin cups the side of your face. You lean away against the door, your heart about to leap out of your chest. You look around for a way to escape. "You are remarkable beautiful." Colin practically purrs, before corning you against the wall.
"No. No, no, no, Colin, get away from me!" You exclaim, trying to run past him. He grabs your arms and roughly pulls you against him. Your scream is cut off by Colin kissing you. You push against him but he holds you tightly.
"Colin! Get your hands off of her!" Anders screams, running up to Colin and you. Colin immediately drops you and you stumble backwards into Anders' arms. You clutch on to Anders fearfully, in a state of shock and panic.
"How dare you, you pig." Anders hisses to Colin, holding you gently in his arms. "You should be ashamed of yourself." He adds. Colin just stares at him. "Never come near Y/N again. If you do, I swear there will be consequences." Anders says. Colin nods and walks off towards his car. "Loki..." Anders mutters about Colin.
"I guess I should've expected that from him." You say. You suddenly realize you're still in his arms and you push yourself away. "Thank you." You state.
"Y/N-" Anders starts. You hold up your hand, stopping him.
"Please, I don't want to hear it, Anders. I was stupidly hoping we could start back to what we had before. But clearly we can't." You say.
"Do you have feelings for me again?" Anders asks. You look at him painfully.
"I never stopped." You say softly. "I never dated anyone while I was away. Guys had asked but I turned them down. For all those years, my feelings for you remained." You explain.
"Y/N, that was the same with me. I tried dating other girls. But none of them felt right. After the first date, I knew that no one could replace you. No one could replace the feelings that I had—still have for you." Anders says, grabbing your hands. "That's what I came here to tell you. I came here to tell you I'm sorry. I'm sorry for letting you go. I'm sorry for the way I acted at my house. I want to start over, Y/N." He says.
You give Anders a watery smile. "Really?" You ask wistfully. He nods, smiling.
     "Really." He whispers.
"Oh, Anders. I've missed you so much." You cry, wrapping your arms around him.
"I love you so much, Y/N. So much." Anders says.
"I love you too." You whisper, before Anders gently grabs your chin and kisses you until you're left breathless.
[THE END] I hope you liked!
