| IMAGINE for @lunawolf8074 |
You bend down, plucking out a weed from your garden, as you hear the clash of swords from two young men practicing sword fighting in the distant village. You wipe the bead of sweat off your brow and continue to make your way down the garden, looking for any weeds. The sun bares down on you and sweat trickles down your back. A wave of nausea passes over you and you stop, putting a hand on your head. You squeeze your eyes shut, feeling dizzy, faint, and sick to your stomach. Once it passes, you take a deep breath and open your eyes.
"Just fifteen more minutes." You mutter, shuddering despite the heat.
You walk over to the well and pull the rope up. You reach for the bucket, pour it into another bucket, and then walk back towards the garden. You start to water the vegetables, your vision blurring before you. A strange chill that runs through your body makes you intake a sharp breath. Clutching your pounding head, you drop the bucket and collapse on to the ground, the light of day vanishes into darkness.———
"Y/N!" Iolaus calls, looking around the outside of your small shack. "Y/N!" He calls again, this time more loudly.
He shrugs, figuring you're not home. He's about to turn back home when his eyes catch something in your garden.
His eyebrows furrow deeply. "Oh no..." He whispers to himself, before running over to the garden. When Iolaus sees you, unconscious on the ground, he skids to a stop, gasps, and his hands cover his mouth. He looks around, his heart beating double time, and then kneels beside you.
"Y/N? Y/N, can you hear me?" Iolaus asks. He gently moves the pieces of hair away from your face. His eyes search your pale face before pulls you into his arms. He runs into your house, holding you tightly against him. He sets you on your bed, grabs the pitcher, and a cloth to start bathing your forehead.———
You wake up sometime later, your eyelids fluttering open. You sit up, breathing heavily.
"How did I get here?" You whisper to your empty house. The door creaks open and Iolaus enters, carrying a water bucket.
"Iolaus, what're you doing here?" You ask, surprised.
"Oh, you're up." Your friend breathes with relief, carefully setting the bucket down, and running over to you. He sits down on the bed and stares at you worriedly. "What happened?" He asks.
"I-I remember feeling really sick. I carried the water bucket to the garden to water the vegetables... and that's all I can remember." You answer, wincing.
"How do you feel?" Iolaus asks.
"I have a headache." You admit.
"I'll get you water. You're probably really dehydrated and maybe that's why you fainted." He says, walking over to the bucket. A minute later, Iolaus comes back, a wooden cup filled with water, in his hands. You rip it from his grasps and drink it greedily. The liquid slides down your throat and you sigh, feeling the water span through your chest.
"Thank you." You whisper to Iolaus. He smiles at you and nods. He fills up your cup again and you finish every last drop.
"Next time, try to drink water. You're lucky I found you when I did." He says.
You nod. "I will. Thank you, Iolaus. For saving me." You say.
He half grins. "Anytime. It's not often that I get to save a beautiful woman from death." He replies. You laugh softly and roll your eyes at his flirtatious ways.
"I wasn't dying. I was... dehydrated." You amend.
Iolaus laughs. "All right, you were 'dehydrated'." He says, grinning. You shake your head and lean back against your pillows, closing your eyes.
"You're a weird one, Iolaus." You state, grinning.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
