Chapter 1: the beast

All was well until one day Lucy's father, King Jude Heartfilia heard news of a beast so powerful as to take down the whole kingdom. Worried, Jude sent his head guard Captain McGarden, Levy's father, to strike down this terrifying creature. After three days and nights of no return, Lady Levy McGarden snuck out of the confining palace and quested on to vanquish the foul beast and bring back her beloved father.

Once riding all the way to the edge of the woods she entered the dense undergrowth only to find a decades old gothic mansion a ways inside. She approached the mansion a queer sort of feeling in her stomach as she kicked open the rusted gates with a bang. Drawing her father's rusted longsword she called out to the emptiness:

"Come on out nasty Beast, I have no fear as to facing you!" but the response was only a faint "gihi" that her human ears could barely make out. She shivered slightly and approached the huge looming wooden doors. Without knocking and with a harsh kick Levy swung open the doors, and much to her surprise a small 'ouch' was to be heard from the other side of the door. A small teacup was thrown back from the force of the door, and landed with a thud at the opposite end of the entry hall.

The narrow red carpeted entry hall was somewhat intimidating for the dark wood and sinister curtains made it feel all less inviting. Levy inspected the small teacup that was a purple shade and had just talked.

"Last I can recall teacups can't speak!" Levy told herself, but gasped when the small cup jumped to its stand with ease and looked at her.

"Oh yes we can Miss, I'm Wendy, Wendy Marvell. Welcome to the Master's house!" The small teacup replied. Levy almost fell down in shock, but instead sat down to avoid further collapse.

"Ummm well I guess this isn't much different than the books I so enjoy reading, I'm so sorry Wendy for hitting you with the door and all, but if I may inquire who's Master and where's my father?" Levy asked apprehensively

"I believe that your father is the man Master just sent back to the kingdom, don't worry your father wasn't harmed he was just sent to tell the king to never bother Master," Wendy says smiling. "as for whom Master is, you'll be meeting him shortly,"

"Thank you Wendy, and when can I go home?" Levy asked.

"Well... you see... Master wanted to keep you here. But don't worry you are not to be harmed," Wendy says.

"but Wendy, I need to get back to see Lu-chan and Erza!" Levy makes a mad dash for the doors, but a shadowed figure crosses her path. The creature steps out into the moonlight, humanlike in posture, but that's where the similarities end. The metallic creature emits dark shadows around it's eyes and has bolts covering its arms and face. Its wild black mane trails down its back and its eyes are like bottomless black pits. Levy stands her ground against the creature. It lets out a small "gihi" before approaching the maiden.

"I see you have met Wendy, gihi," It says in a deep ominous voice. Levy being quaking with fear doesn't want to show it

"Release me this instant, why keep me when you released my father?" Levy asks

"Oi Shrimp, I don't have much time, so let me be direct, I need you to fall in love with me so Wendy and the rest of the cursed people here can go back to human form and live regular lives. So you can't leave and you need to fall in love with me fast," the monster says looking Levy directly in the eye. Levy admires how the monster only looks out for his nakama who have been cursed, and she sees the truly human characteristics of this beast.

She smiles to herself, she'd always imagined falling for a handsome Duke or Baron, but maybe she would fall for the beast instead. Plus she's never been one for tradition.

"Fine I accept staying here, but this isn't a confirmation that I'll love you. I might actually wind up hating your guts and you'll just have to find another girl who can deal with you! Remember this is for Wendy's sake," Levy turns a deep crimson color as she looks at the beast who smirks slightly.

"Tonight meet me for dinner at the ballroom, gihihi," the beast then runs off

"but I never even got to catch your name," Levy says when the beast is nowhere in sight anymore. Wendy escorts Levy up to her room, as Levy collapses on the bed. "what have I gotten myself into?" Levy asks herself pondering her unique circumstance.
