Chapter 2: The Prince

Lucy was starting to worry for Levy-chan. Lucy knew of Levy's plans and had just heard that Captain McGarden had returned unharmed, so where was Levy-chan?

"Lucy if I were you, I'd be worrying more for the Beast's sake. Levy-chan is too tough to be beaten by a small creature like that," Erza tells Lucy assuringly. Lucy just nods back looking out her window, what troubles would her father face next?

Soon in the next day or so news came for Princess Lucy to be married off to Prince Jellal Fernandes of a neighboring kingdom. Lucy was infuriated, how dare her father just marry her off like that! So her and Erza hatched a plan, the day of Jellal's visit Lucy would sneak out and Erza would stall Jellal for the day until Lucy got back from her final day of freedom and meet her future husband. Unenthralled at this idea of marrying off to someone for wealth and power, Lucy decided that she would have to make due with Jellal and see fit to it that he was a good man.

The day finally came and Lucy had just barely escaped the palace walls, with the help of Erza when the trumpets sounded and Prince Jellal made his entrance. A flashback hit Erza as she stared at Jellal's face. It was when Erza was a young weak girl at a training camp for knights, she was the only girl there. She had just finished sparring an unforgettable blue haired boy with a red tattoo across his eye. She had won the sword duel, but only by a small margin, as she helped the young boy up he looked at her and asked for her name.

"Errr umm well I'm Erza," young Erza stuttered out.

"what about your full title?" the blue haired boy demanded

"I don't have one, I was orphaned at birth," young Erza admits looking at her feet.

"I know, I'll call you Scarlet, Erza Scarlet because if your pretty red hair,"  the blue haired boy said making Erza blush

"I guess now I'm Erza Scarlet then, what's your name?"

"I'm Jellal Fernandes, I hope I can see you again..." and Erza's flashback fades, and the fanfare of trumpets begin.

"Introducing the Prince from the Kingdom of Crime Sorciere, Jellal Fernandes," the announcer says as Jellal enters the gates. Erza stays guarding the steps to Lucy's tower waiting for her encounter with this blue haired prince.

He approaches Erza with a look of knowing on his face. "I remember you, Miss Scarlet, from your pretty red hair, I see you've done well in your life,"

    "I have made a career for myself, I see you're betrothed to my dear friend if you ever so much as scratch her I will personally hunt you down myself. I don't care Prince or not no harm is to come to Lucy," Erza says demonically making the Prince shiver slightly in his boots.

    "It's too bad too, I have always had my eyes on another, but now I can not be with her," Jellal replies

    "Well since you're here to see Lucy, I can't allow you to climb up to her. She has just recently caught a minor case of stomach influenza and is nufit as to see her fiancee for the first time," Erza says lying through her teeth, but if it's for Lucy's sake Erza would do anything.

After being trained as a knight for six years, Erza's grandfather, who was also her caretaker, died. His memory had already faded to the point where he couldn't even tell 7 year old Erza what her last name was. Erza had run into hard times on the street until a young blonde Princess took her in. Even though Erza was a year older than this Princess, the family still kept her taken care of. Through all this hardship and pain Erza had learned what it was to have true friends, and what a knight of the highest honor should be.

    "I can honestly say that I'm glad to have isome time to catch up with you, Erza," Jellal tells the knight sitting down on the first step of the spiral staircase that lead to Lucy's tower.

    "I do enjoy some time off," Erza admits sitting down next to the Prince as they talk animatedly as if they've been friends for years.
