Deaf Doggie--READ DESCRIPION

Chapter 7: Confession

"What the heck was that about?!?" He stared at me like I was suppose to answer, but I didn't want to so i didn't, Cali luckily saved me on that one

"Calm down, you think she meant for that to happen?"

"No but-" He was cut off

"But its over"

"No its not he said he would come back, he could kill the others!" He was clearly talking about the other puppies, currently playing in the cave, pulling at each others fur.

"So what do want us to do? Get rid of her!"

"Well..."

"BRENT!" I was flabbergasted! First my father now him! If I could have cried I would. I guess they forgot that I can hear, well read them. I was so upset I ran out of the den then in the forest. I sat down, then soon there was Cali. In all her beauty. I whimpered to let her know I was upset. She got closer and I felt humming in her chest, she was speaking. I looked up at her and she was looking at me, I guess she didn't understand how I knew what other wolves said all I got from her was.

"I don't know if-" I cut her off by saying

"You don't how I understand you even though I'm deaf do you?"

She was shocked then shook her head

"Thought so" I paused

"Well I have to see the wolf speak, like I read it, when I was in the tree I saw-" Now I was cut off

"What's with this tree?"

I looked down and said meekly "When my

mom and dad found out I was deaf, dad took me to somewhere far away from home....he saw a tree with a large hole in it, I was suppose to stay in it, once in a while he'll come and see if I'm there, always I'm there, well" I looked back up to her "I wasn't always there"

"Oh" she slightly said "Continue with your um...teaching" her mind was on something else though. We talked so long that we missed dinner but I didn't mind. I slept with them that night, with the puppies, I couldn't sleep though, at this point I would be listening the wolves. But instead I read Brent and Cali talk,

"Brent I'm concerned for Sollen"

"Sollen? Oh the pup that almost got us killed"

"BRENT!"

"I was just joking Cal"

"Cali, not Cal"

"I know so why are you worried"

"I was talking with her after you upset her and scared her off!" He lowered his head

"And she said that after her parents found she was deaf that her dad, the guy we saw, took her to a tree with a large hole in it to be lived in. Her dad constantly checks on her to make sure she's there, sound familiar?"

"No.....it can't be" she nodded her head

"I think she is a dog...not a wolf" I was shocked, I knew I was already a dog so was my mom but why did they say it in a concerned way?

"There is only one dog out there....Gloria" That was my mom! OK I'm scared now. Also if I was a dog why would i need to stay in a tree? So many questions and more piling on.

"We need to talk to her"

"No Brent!" I shut my eyes hoping they would think I was asleep, I felt Brent carrying me in his mouth over to Cali. I felt a nudge on my side, YES! They bought it! They thought I was asleep! HAPPY DANCE! MAN, SOLLEN get it together! I opened my eyes and did the five-more-minutes look. He said.

"Morin" I pretended to look outside and notice its still night, then groaned, I turned away closing my eyes, nudge after nudge after nudge, he REALLY wanted to talk to me

"What" I said with a fake yawn

"We need yo talk about your family" No more games, I was fully up.

"What kind of stuff?"

"Like their names, colors" he whispered to himself "if they are dogs or wolves" Cali bumped him

"Well my dads name is Cameron, he is black with little white, as you saw, and is a wolf" I stopped there, they wanted to now my family well, there's my dad, I don't want to tell them that my mothers a dog, plus can't they just smell it off me, wait...oh wolves and dogs are SOOOO similar that they smell like each other, figures.

"What bout your siblings and your mother?" He put a lot of pressure on the word mother by the way I felt air that he blew after he said that word, if that makes sense. I smiled at my plan, I have or had five puppies so yea

"Well there's Petal, she is a-" cut off

"Tell us about your mom..." I sighed and told them

"I was awake and i read your conversation before you 'woke' me" Brent was confused I haven't told him I read to understand but Cali knew.

"And I am a dog, I was born from Gloria in a litter of five, three was a dog, I was one of them, but I was the only one born deaf, all the rest weren't even blind. But I DON'T know why its that bad." They just got more, and more shocked the more I talked about it, they looked at me, then each other then me again. Cali spoke

"You see those two pups?" I looked to the pups they were caring for. The midnight black and the Carmel tan pups. I nodded my head.

"They're dogs too" I was shocked but read on

"Dogs have a ritual if they are born from both a wolf and a dog" I cocked my head to the right wondering what was the ritual

"The ritual is that all dogs are banished from the wolf world and only a small group is allowed to own puppies born from wolf and dog, so all puppies born from that current mother (that is a dog) are gathered and burn in the same fire as their mother or father that is a dog" I found out what the ritual is and personal I'm better off not knowing, I was terrified.

"But why would dad put me in a tree to live in?"

"Because you can't hear, all dogs born with disabilities doesn't get to die with their family, instead the Alpha..." She paused "will eat you" OK now I'm terrified.

"Still doesn't answer why-" I'm sick of being cut off now even from Cali.

"Before being eaten you will learn to live on your own, if you do well enough then you will be able to be able to join the pack from witch your mother's or father's (whatever one is a wolf) pack, as a slave" doesn't sound like a good life, thank you very much

"Your dad helped you find a place to live, but that isn't allowed, he would be killed if any other wolf found out" I have a HARD life.....yea......

"We must find were your old den was and take the other puppies, your siblings, what were the dogs names? And what did they look like?"

"Joey is a boy and then there's Violet, she's a girl"

"OK and?"

"And they both look like normal Huskeys, black and white"

"Thank you" Brent smelled the inside and out of the den for my dads scent...nothing instead he smelled me and set out. He screamed,

"I'll be home soon!"

"You better" Cali screamed, he was gone

I stared at her more

"Your the small pack" She nodded her head and look at the sleeping pups.

"Midnight and Carmel, you can tell what one is what." HAY!!! I called them that!!!

"Different mothers same dad, the dad was the dog.....he was killed in the fire with one other pup that was a dog" she looked away whimpering "We couldn't save him" Man how many tragedies did these wolves have to go though!! I feel sorry for them.

"Both born on the same day and we immediately took them, we knew they were gonna be born" She looked at me "We had no idea you were born, your safe for now well....I think they can't take you after we have all of the dogs in that family or after the ceremony" She looked down but managed to act fine.

So many things buzzing in my head I decided I was tired so I went to sleep.
