Mountains of paperwork lay scattered across the floor of the office, no form of order to any of them. Alexander walks into the room and assesses the mess, and then smiles ever so sweetly. Chaos has always been his favourite, anything in perfect order tends to set him off in a panic. He takes a seat behind his desk and opens a letter that had arrived earlier that morning. He frowns when he realizes it's just another invitation to a business gathering. The master of the household leans back in his chair and closes his eyes gently and starts to drift off.
To anyone else, Alexander is a normal man of wealth, but what no one knows, is how he gets so wealthy. For a long time he has claimed it to be mearly inheritance money, but many are starting to question. He is hardly ever seen in public, and is basically considered a noble recluse. On occasion he will host a ball, but that's only every few months and its one of the few times he makes an appearance.
Alexander opens his eyes and sits up. The pain in his head won't go away, and all he can think about is what the future holds for his little girl, Lyla. He worries for the day that she will start to question everything, and when she will finally ask more about her real parents. The man didn't know much about the girls parents, he had found Lyla and took her in. At least thats the story he is beginning to believe.
A knock comes from the door, and Alexander gets up and turns the knob. He opens the door a little bit and sees Ryan standing there. His thoughts start to cloud even more when he thinks about what complications this butler could cause. "What do you need Ryan?" says Alexander with a hint of anger in his voice.
Ryan moves his eyes to meet his masters, "The young lady is ready and waiting downstairs in the dance hall, my lord." Ryan has always been afraid of Alexander. The look that he has in his eyes is uncomforting, almost like a bird would look at a worm.
"I will be down there momentarily." Alexander gets ready to shut the door, and then he stops. "Oh, and Ryan."
The butler feels a sort of terror run through him, his whole body feels as if its about to die. "Y-y-yes sir?"
The master growls, "If I ever hear you talk out of place in front of Lyla or me again, I WILL kill you!" Alexander feels his whole body light up like a fire burning inside him. If he wasn't thinking straight he probably would've killed Ryan right now. "Also prepare some tea for me. I plan to watch my girl dance today."
"Understood sir. I am terribly sorry to have spoken out of line." Ryan did not intend to speak out of line earlier, it was just that he accidently started thinking out loud.
Alexander shuts the door in the butler's face, and turns back towards his desk. He assesses the room once more and shifts to lean on his left leg. His thoughts will not leave him alone, so he puts his finger to his forehead and lightly touches the center of his head. With eyes closed, he takes a deep breath. "With all this power I possess, why must I be tortured so much? Thoughts, clear away and cease to exist!" He shouts quickly.
