Lyla answers the door, and there is tear stains all over her face.  Her eyes grow wide with worry as she looks up at the face of the man she used to trust.  She is filled with tons of emotions, but her whole body is frozen with fear.  Tons of things come to mind to tell him, but the encounter stays silent.  They stand there in quiet for about ten minutes.

Finally, Alexander breaks the silence by saying, "Dear Lyla.  Will you ever forgive me?"  Alexander feels like if he can't gain her trust back, his plan will never work.  "I can't believe everything that I did last night.  I never meant for you to see that side of me. I swear I was going to tell you someday what I really was but I ju..."  Alexander is about to finish speaking when he gets interrupted.

"What did you mean last night about my mother?"  Fresh tears are brewing in Lyla's eyes as she lulls over the question she just asked.

Alexander is perplexed, this girl who was supposedly scared half to death, remembers the worst mistake he made last night.  She remembers the mention of her mother, and that one fact could bring him down.  He has no answer for the girl at the moment, so he just stands there weakly thinking.

Lyla's face twists into anger, "Until you tell me, I will never forgive you!"  She slams the door in the lord's face.

This sets the demon's senses ablaze, all of him ached to tear into something.  His eyes go back to their blood red colour.  This only happens when he goes into bloodlust, and just being on the other side of her door, made him wanna tear through the door, and rip her apart.

A crash comes through the door and Lyla screams and backs up against the far wall.  She stands there staring as Alexander comes slashing through the door.  She falls to the floor and puts her face in her hands to hide the sight of her once beloved master.  In her mind, she will never see him as the same loving man again.

"Don't you see what I can do?"  Alexander says quietly from the opposite side of the room from Lyla.  A tears comes rolling down his cheek.  "I could kill you so easily, it'd be less of a hastle than that door was."  He sits down making sure to give Lyla plenty of room.

The girl lifts her head slowly and looks at him, "Just answer me.  Where is my mother?"  She can't stop crying, but she tries to appear eager to forgive.

Alexander bites his lip, and his whole face becomes covered in worry.  He decides to tell her the partial truth again, "She really did die in a house fire the day you were born.  You and your father both."  The lies start to cross his lips at this point, "I was friends with her, for many years.  We used to be lovers in our younger years, but I was of noble blood and her not.  So our love was doomed."  Even though he is lying about the last part, he manages to fake a few more tears.

Lyla lowers her head, "So she really is dead."  She sits silent and thinks for a few moments, and then she decides to speak again.  "Why was your love truly doomed?  You could've run away with her.  Then that way you would be my father, and that house fire probably wouldn't have happened."  She says trying to smile.

"I could never be your real father, because of what I truly am."  Alexander says this and a real sadness creeps up inside his head.  He wishes he could have his own children, but of course, demons can't conceive.

Lyla lifts her head a bit higher to look him in the eyes, "What are you exactly?  Some kind of vampire?"  She kind of smiles at the thought that Alexander could be a mythical creature such as a vampire.

The young lord tilts his head, "So you really don't know, do you?"  He can tell by the questioning on her face, that she has no clue what he really is.  "I am a demon, love.  A being that survives by consuming the souls of humans."

"Oh, so that's what you meant when you said you wanted to eat my soul.  What was all that about me having your soul?"  She sits silently waiting for any sign of him answering, but none comes so she decides to continue.  "What exactly is the reason you keep me around?"

Sorrow covers Alexander's face, "I keep you around because you are my human soul."  He can tell by the look on Lyla's face that she has no clue about demons.  "Your soul is the soul that used to belong to me before I became a demon.  For a long time this has been a demons biggest weakness.  If the human who carries a demons soul is killed, the demon whose soul that belonged to...dies."  He lowers his head to look at the ground.

Lyla stops crying, "So you keep me around simply because, if I die, you die?"

"That's part of it.  A demon could eat their humans soul, and gain the true powers of a demon.  Until a demon consumes their human soul, they still have the ability to feel emotions, and aren't as strong as they could be."  The lord has explained everything he can to her.  Anymore and demons would consider her too knowledgeable and surely kill her, thus killing him, and ruining the trap.

Everything is going through Lyla's mind, but she is still able to think clearly.  "So what is this more reason of keeping me alive?"

Alexander looks her in the eye, "You could still be useful yet.  Plus I'm not ready to go numb of feelings, not just yet."  A devilish grin creeps across his face, "I love you Lyla.  I have since I watched you be born."

Confusion crosses through Lyla's mind, but she keeps her mouth shut.  If he was there the day I was born, then that means he was there the day they died.  Why didn't he help them?  What is he hiding from me?  These and many more thoughts flood her mind at once, but she decides to give up and sit there in silence.
