Lyla lays her head down to the soft pillow, and closes her eyes gently.  Tomorrow is the ball, so she needs plenty of sleep.  She is still frightened by the fact that a demon is just down the hall, but she is exausted.  Everything in her body is starting to calm down, and she feels the sleep taking hold of her.

Darkness floods her entire body, and she is the only thing to be seen in this dark abyss.  She walks straight, and her feet send up black feathers with every step.  Everything here is new to her, she can't help but be concerned as to why all this is happening.  The darkness seems to be never ending, but still she continues to walk in hopes of an escape.

After walking for what seems like forever, she decides to stop and rest.  She sits down on the ground, the feathers cushioning her like a pillow.  The girl picks up a few of the feathers and holds them in her hand, but they dissolve as she begins to examine them.  In place of the black feathers, there in her hand lies a small clump of hair.  Animal hair, it's black and soft in her small palm.

She drops the fur amongst the feathers and stands.  She looks around, but still there is no sign of anything, just a total void.  A scream escapes her lips, "AHHHHH!!!! ISN'T ANYONE THERE?!  I'M SO ALONE!"  Tears flow down her cheeks, and she begins to give up hope.

The dream shifts a little bit, it's almost how it used to be.  She is standing alone in the blackness, and two blood red eyes appear.  Followed by those scary teeth that seek to feed on her.  This time was a bit different though.  Along with the red eyes and teeth, there came a voice.

"You wish for a companion?"  Demonic laughter fills the darkness.  "You truly are like any other human.  Always eager to please others, just so you won't be alone."  The teeth curl into a evil smile, "It's all the same for the dreamers.  You all die in the end, so why strive for attention."

A man appears before her, it's Alexander.  A smile that spreads across his entire face, "Think of it this way dear girl.  I've raised you all these years, not once were you forced to be alone.  Yet all these months you've had this same dream of being alone.  Do you know why that is girl?"  The demons smile fades and he appears angry.

The girl shakes her head, but along with her head, her whole body shakes.  What this man said is true, she has felt so alone these past few months.

A growl escapes the demons lips as he looks down on this fragile human.  "You've felt alone because you didn't really know me."  He studies the girls face, "Now that you know what I really am, will you run away?"

Fear crosses the young woman's face, "No I swear I won't.  Just don't leave me alone.  I trust you, I always have."  She pauses for a moment, "Nothing has changed, you are still the man I care for."

"You really are stupid.  Like a beautiful butterfly caught in my spider web.  Never able to escape."  A smile crosses his face, "Some people say, Butterflies never really die.  They lie, Butterflies will always die.  It's the truly beautiful ones of your kind, that die way too soon."

The girl is confused, "What do you mean Alex?"

Nothing comes from his mouth, and he begins to vanish into the darkness again.  Until once again he was only those blood stained eyes, and those smiling devilish teeth.  "If I were you, I'd trust no one my dear.  You have been alone all these years, not once was I really on your side.  You are simply a pawn to me."  The teeth curl up even farther, "Unfortunately, there was some love for you from that Alexander."

"I don't understand!  Aren't you Alexander?"  The girl screams unknowing of the real truth.

The eyes close, and laughter fills the void.  It's so loud that the girl falls down.  Once again the ground is covered in feathers.

"Alexander is not fully mine, but yes I am him, just not completely.  You see, the lord that raised you was turned into a demon about a hundred years ago.  Ever since then, I've been struggling to take over, but he keeps suppressing me."  The demon opens his eyes, "Me and Alexander can't truly be one until I consume his soul which lies inside of you now.  So you see, I will have you girl.  It is not Alexander who hunts you down, it is me."

All this knowledge falls on the girl in a heart crushing moment.  This time she has spent fearing Alexander, she should have been fearing the demon inside.

The demon interrupts her thoughts, "I had a hold on him in the beginning, we killed many people.  I stole many souls from other demons.  They would make a deal with a human, and ripen the soul up, and then I'd take it at the perfect moment."  A laughter escapes his lips again, "How great a team me and Alexander really were.  And once you are outta the picture, he will join me once again, but this time we will truly become one."

The girl stands up and begins to walk toward the demons eyes.  All fear is gone from her for this short moment.  "Please, tell me the truth.  What is the plan you are using me for?  Alexander truly did love me, I could see it in his eyes every time he said it.  It was you saying all those cruel things, and fogging his mind.  Wasn't it?"

"You got it right."  A frown forms in the demons teeth, "I'm sorry miss, but I will consume you.  I will continue to haunt your dreams until the day you are finally mine."

The demon moves forward again towards her, his teeth moving to consume her.  Then once again she finds herself just about to be devoured, and then falling, just like all the times before.  Only this time the embrace isn't seeming to come.  Just laughter, the darkness is filled with the demonic laughter of Alexanders inner demon.

Then finally, the laughing stops.  She continues to fall, and just when she is about to give up hope on ever being saved, a voice whispers through her head.  "Do you want to be saved?  Or do you simply want the suffering to end?"  She doesn't recognize this voice.  After a few moments the voice whispers again, "Go ahead a take a few to think about it.  I've got all the time in the world, and I can assure you there is no end to this abyss.  You will just continue falling."

She shivers, and she starts to wonder if this voice belongs to the warm embrace she would always feel just before waking up from her dream.  Could this possibly be the person who always caught her, but never showed their face?

"I want to be saved, but I also don't want to suffer from that demon any longer.  I want to be free."  She pleads, hoping that the arms will catch her and save her from this never ending pit.

"Very well,"  arms wrap around her and pull her in close.  "I will be your saviour, and protect you from that demon even if it costs me my life."

She realizes that she has stopped falling, and she is now standing in a field of flowers.  It's pure beauty as far as the eye can see, very unlike that nightmare that the demon gave her.  Just then she realizes there is a figure standing next to her.

The man bows, and then regains his posture.  He smiles at her and holds out his hand.  She shakes his hand, and they stand there in silence for awhile.  The stranger appears to be in his early twenties.  He reminds her of Alexander in a sorta way.

Brown hair covers half his face, and the rest falls down almost to his shoulders.  A tall man with such a sweet but serious face.  The thing that stands out more than anything though, is his eyes.  These eyes filled with such hate, but also so much passion in them.  Eyes that no one could ever forget, these eyes that are bluer than sapphires.  So blue they are almost black.

A smile unfolds on the mans face, "Well, you have to go now."  He checks his watch, "I will be seeing you so very soon."  He walks forward and kisses her on the forehead, "Until we meet again, my love.  For you are the only one worth protecting, so we are sure to meet again very soon."  He walks past the girl and disappears.

Lyla sits up and tears are running down her face.  This dream that she just had, it was so different.  For the first time ever, she wishes it wouldn't have ended.  She is curious who this tall, blue eyed stranger is.  A smile grows on her face, and she looks towards the window.

When she closes her eyes, she can see two beautiful blue eyes staring back at her, but underneath them.  A smile just like the demon's.
