Chapter 12

Joe's POV

"I'll have a.. a hot chocolate please"

I said to the person behind the counter who was oogling at Lydia much to my dismay.

"And for the lady?" He said giving her a wink to which she giggled. I put my arm around her.

"She'll have a caramel frappuccino, no coffee" He grunted and called out the order. I looked around and found Alfie sitting with a drink looking really sad.

I nudged Lydia gesturing to Alfie "Go sit with him, I'll bring the drinks"

She nodded and swiftly walked over to Alfie, smiling as she sat down. They started to make small talk, and occasionally Alfie would smile but most the time he sat twiddling his straw.

"Hot choc, caramel frap!" I picked up the drinks and sat next to Alfie, giving Lydia her drink too.

"So Alfie, how are you?" I said not really knowing what else to say.

"I'm alright I guess, just a little pissed."

"Oh right yea-"

"-I mean like Finn bloody well knew I liked Zoe and what did he go and do, he went and slept with her!" Alfie interrupted.

"I know mate, he must have been drunk right? I know Finn and he wouldn't have done that knowing about you and Zo."

Alfie's shoulders slumped "Mm" he sighed.

"Anyway let's talk about you two, how're you getting on?" He stretched out the last syllable of 'on'.

I looked at Lydia and grinned "We're doing pretty good." Lydia nodded.

"Are you still staying at Joe's?" he asked Lydia.

"Yeah, but I do need to find my own place soon, somewhere in London preferably, there's a job I'm interested in there."

Alfie nodded "Yeah, I know places in London can get pretty pricey- Marcus is looking for a place too."

"Oh is he? That's interesting to know."

"Yeah, I just thought- if you and Marcus got a place together then you could split the bills in two, and it would be a lot cheaper!"

Lydia grinned "I like the sound of cheaper bills!"

I kicked Alfie with my leg, I did not want my girlfriend sharing a place with Marcus and his Nicki Minaj. Alfie glanced up at me, but didn't get message and went back to talking with Lyd.

"I have 2 older brothers so I'm used to living with boys." she said. Alfie nodded.

"That would be quite a good idea don't you think Joe?" he asked me.

"Um, yeah I guess" I replied shrugging my shoulders.

"I'll see if Marcus is interested" said Alfie. "Actually, you know what, why don't I ring him right now?"

"Yeah." Lydia grinned nodding her head.

Alfie got out his phone and dialled Marcus's number.

"Hey Marcy Butt Butt" he chuckled.

"Yeah yeah, no I'm good an you?"

"Oh right cool. Yeah. Yeah. No anyways, are you still looking for a place in London?"

"Oh you've found one?" I sighed in relief, a bit too much though because Lydia looked at me strangely.

"Oh but you need a roommate? Yeah, I have an option for you, she was also looking for a place in London so I, being the cleverest person ever, suggested she room with you, because then the bills would be split and be cheaper!"

I mentally cursed and looked over at Lydia who was biting her nails, something I noticed she did when she was nervous.

"It's Lydia, yeah her, she had 2 older brothers so she can handle boys, an she'd probably keep you in shape, and tidy" he chuckled.

"Yeah will do, mhmm, okay see you, bye".

"Sooo?" asked Lydia hanging on to his every word- another thing that was pissing me off.

"He said its a really good idea, he's found a place so if he texts you some details you can see whether you like it or not, then see how it goes from there!"

Lydia grinned "Okay, sounds great, what's his number?" she gave her phone to Alfie to type it in.

"There you go, let me know what happens." Lydia nodded "will doo."

"Oh Marcus has text back already, he says he's viewing the place at half 5 if I want to go with him, he's just buying a top from Topman at the mo."

"Oh right cool, you should go to the viewing with him then you can see if you like it, I think Topman's like 5 minutes or something away from here, tell him to come to Starbucks once he's done." Lydia nodded and typed on her phone.

We made small talk until Marcus came into Starbucks armed with a few shopping bags, he spotted us and made his way over.

"Hi guys" he greeted sitting next to Lydia, opposite me as that was the only seat left.

"So Lyd" he turned to Lydia using the nickname I called her. "The place is roughly 20 minutes away and it's 5 now so we should get going in a few." She nodded eagerly.

"So what did you buy?" I asked desperate to change the subject, as it was annoying more and more with every word they said.

"Tops and boxers mainly" he said with a cheeky grin on his face. Lydia giggled.

"Nice." I said through gritted teeth.
