It's up to you. I'll try my best to keep the promise. I swear. On with the story...
Chapter 8
"Ok, what the hell?" I hissed, ducking down as I continued following Nathaniel. Who were we hiding from? He looked back and gave me a secretive smirk.
"Run" he whispered, before dashing along the alleyway, leaving me to chase behind him like a demented flamingo. Damn, he was fast. I was panting, out of breath as we stopped at at corner.
"Seriously, what the hell have I gotten myself into?" I whispered, eyeing the cobwebs high up on the corner of the shabby building we were currently hiding behind. I shuddered when a breeze blew past me."This is anything but fun" he ignored me and guided me down another small, congested alley. I let out a shivery breath and walked behind him. "I don't like this" I huffed.
"Too late to back out now" He smirked, turning around. I eyed him carefully, narrowing my eyes to a glare. "We're here" He reached out and turned the knob of the door, which I didn't even noticed was there. This place was meant to be a secret. "After you" He gestured. I nodded and entered the room, studying my surroundings.
Dim lights showered down on us, causing me to merely be able to see the pathway ahead of us. I kept on hand on the wall beside me as I slowly trudged along the path, trying me best not trip on the chunks of rubble all over floor.
"You're so slow" Nathaniel whined from behind me. Before I knew it, he had swung me up, into his arms and carried across the rest of the way. I huffed angrily when he put me down.
"I could have done that" I grumbled
"Yes, if we had another decade" he hastily replied and I rolled my eyed. He reached out and grabbed my hand. "Come on". He seemed so eager to show me what his idea of 'fun' was, that I'd feel bad if I didn't go with him. Sighing, I trailed behind him as he pulled me along. After a while, we'd finally arrived. I was shocked to say the least when I saw the scene in front me.
"What is this?" I exclaimed, not sure whether to be thrilled or worried.
"A fighting rink" he replied casually. I looked at him skeptically.
"I know that, idiot, I'm asking you why are we at an underground fighting rink" I looked at the two bulky man wrestling each other in one of the rinks and winced when I saw his lip burst open and blood dribble out.
"I have a fight on tonight" My whipped my to look at him and stared at him like he was stupid. When he cracked a small smile and started walking towards the stage, I figured out he was serious.
"You're not joking?" I said, falling into step beside him. He simply shook his head. "You're serious" Rolling his eyes, he nodded and took off his shirt, handing it to me. For a second, I got distracted with the sight of his heavenly body but quickly looked away, aware of my flushing face. "This is dangerous" I mumbled, looking back at him. For a second, an unknown emotion flashed through his eyes, like he was having second thoughts.
