Mackenna POV

When I opened my eyes, light was beaming through the window and under it was a sleeping Kenneth on the couch.

I smiled. I remembered our coversation from yesterday and my smile turned into a smile of sorrow. I felt bad that Kenneth met his dad yesterday and didn't even know because of his mom. It would be horrible if my mom lied to me about the father I never had.

I yawned. This was my first time all week I had gotten a good nights sleep. I couldn't do anything but toss and turn when Kenneth wasn't here.

I was so deep in my thoughts, that I didn't even notice my stomach growl. I am hungry. I picked up the bedside remote and pressed the nurse calling button. The nurse came in the room in less than 2 minutes later.

"Hey Mackenna...You feeling ok?" She asked worrily.

"Im feeling fine. In fact, I'm feeling wonderful." I said.

I could tell that she was taken back by my response. "Oh... Um... Really?"

"Yup. Just peachy." I answered with a smile. I watched her as her eyes lingered to something on the other side of the room. She grinned like the cat from Alice in Wonderland.

"Ooh. I know why you're so bright eyed and bushy tailed. It's because your boyfriends is here isn't it?"

"What? Oh. You mean Kenneth. Well...I wouldn't exactly call him my boyfriend but...we do have some type of relationship going on." I answered. Truth is, I really don't know what to call what me and Kenneth have.

"Mmm... Sure..." She was still grining like a manic, but I simply just rolled my eyes.

I looked over at Kenneth. I smiled a bright smile at just the sight of him. He was just so...perfect. I don't know what I did to deserve a person like him.

"He must mean something special to you to get you this happy. In these passed what...5 days, I've never seen you this happy." The nurse must've noticed me staring at him.

"Yeah. He does... I think...-"

The nurse tilted her head in a caring way. "You think what?"

"I.... I think I'm in... Love." I confessed.

The nurses' face lit up with joy. "Really? Oh that's great Mackenna! Is it Kenneth because if it is, you guys would be the cutest couple on Earth! Oh my gurg Mackenna congratulations! It was obvious but I thought it was just me being me. I-"

"Ok, ok. Thank you." I laughed at her ranting. "What's gurg?"

She laughed. "It's what I say to replace 'oh my gosh'. Gurg is so much better anyways." I laughed at her.

She was my favorite nurse because every time the doctors would try and give me a sleeping shot, she would always try to talk them out of it, even if they didn't listen. I was grateful for her because she was my hospital buddy.

"But really. Thank you. For... being here, with me." I said seriously.

"Oh hunny, its my job to be here." She joked causing me to give a slight chuckle. "But you're welcome." She embraced me in a sweet and kind hug. Its what I've needed these past few days.

I heard noise coming from Kenneth which made us break our hug to look at him.
"Leave her alone..." He mumbled. "Stop! Let me have her...NO! STOP! PLEASE! I NEED HER!"

"Oh my gosh." The nurse gasped and quickly walked over to Kenneth.

"NOO! TAKE ME! JUST DON'T HURT HER!" He countiued to scream. I felt my eyes water. Was he talking about me?
