The Unhidden

Chapter 3

Everyone looks at me "yea I can."

Everyone leaves and Justin is the last person he quickly glares at me then he's gone.

Sgt. Wilkins closes the door and the blinds. He sits in a chair by my bed "tell me what happened, and the truth. I'll tell if your lying?"

I confess "this morning I went to school my sister Laurie forced me to eat at home. I got something then I left and ate it. I puked it back up minutes later. I went to school then I was supposed to meet my friend after school but he never showed, so I walked home. I went to my room and I heard the door slam downstairs. So I went to check it out, it was Justin. He told me that him and Laurie are getting married. I said so Laurie..." I stop.

"You said what Caroliena?"

I take a deep breath "I said so Laurie knows you beat me. He got mad and beat me up; punched my head, pulled my hair, face for about five minutes. He got up and left, I laid down for a half hour crying, after that I went to my room and locked it, also the built in bathroom. I cut myself really deep then, I stitched myself up, put gauze on my wrist and thigh. I had heard my sisters car, they but came to my room and knocked because it was locked. I never answered and passed out. I woke up and went downstairs but I passed out and they called the ambulance. I was feint so I really didn't know what was going on. I got here and yeah."

He writes this down "I'll tell the dr and the nurse to come in."

"Justin will lie."

He leaves me and walks in with the nurse and dr.

"Tell them what you told me, is there anything else?"

"When the nurse went to talk to Laurie outside he said something."

"What?"

"He said 'if you tell there's more where that came from.'"

He nods and leaves.

"Is that why you cut yourself?"

"Not all of it..." They look at me with questionable faces "...both of my parents died in a house fire ten years ago. I started cutting ever since. Then I moved in with my sister and Justin. Everytime I say something to Laurie she thinks I'm lying and tells me to stop being clumsy. She doesn't listen and I had the marks to prove it. He still did it and I cut more and more."

The doctor looks at me "does your sister know? Were you trying to kill yourself?"

I don't talk at all I just shake my head.

"Caroliena can you tell us something?"

"Sure."

"Where were you during the fire?"

"I was in my room my mom called me and told me to get out...through the window."

"I'm sorry. What were your parents names?"

"Julianna and Greg Williams."

"Oh they were here that night so were you they had burns everywhere they died that night and you had stayed in pediatrics."

"I don't want to hear that please."

"No problem."

Sgt. Wilkins walks in with two other cops "Caroliena your sister and Justin said that's not true. Laurie said 'if you want to get out of the house then get out and stop trying to get me and Justin to break up' those were her exact words."

"Did you tell her that I was cutting for' the last ten years?"

"No I didnt tell her. You have to tell her."

"Thanks." He leaves, Laurie and Justin walks in.

"Before you say anything I have to say this." I pause before I go on. "I'm not going to bother anyone of you guys anymore got it. When graduate I'm going to be gone, I might think about coming to see my nieces and nephews. that's it since I'm just a burden or a charity case. might as will because we had the same parents. Now you can leave I don't want to see you."

They look at me shocked but they leave me alone. They both leave out of the room.
