I wake up in the morning, I shoot out of bed. Scared, and rested. I look around the room I'm in and realize that I actually ran away. I'm at my grandparents' house, in my parents bed. I relax more when I'm aware of my surroundings. Someone knocks on the door and walks in, its papa "Liena, good morning. Did you have a good night sleep?"
"Papa, what time is it?"
"It's almost 10 am. You were sleep and we all didn't want to wake you. You looked so peaceful and looked like you needed the rest."
I look at his caramel eyes "papa, what about school? I bet they're all looking for me."
"Don't worry we all will let them know you are ok. We are going to drive up to Columbus for you to call."
"Do you have a computer?"
"Yes you can use it. I will set it up outside in the yard."
"Thank you."
"No problem, mama went to the store to grab you some bathroom items for you. She'll be back in a little bit. The bathroom is right there so clean up and you're safe. No worries."
"Thank you again." Papa leaves and I start to take my shower, I bring my clothes I'm going to change in. I step in the hot water and I instantly get relief. I stand under the hot water for at least half an hour. I clean up, stop the water and dress. I walk downstairs to see grams, granpa, papa, and mama.
"How are you feeling Liena?"
"Much better."
"Here have some pancakes. You must be starved" gram offers me a plate of food. I take it right away and start eating little by little.
Gramps looks at me eating "you said you starved yourself when we were in the car is that true?"
"Yes I couldn't eat after mom and dad died. It's been hard, it still is. My friends talk about how they fight with their parents. It makes me mad, since I won't ever to be able to hold them or argue or laugh with them. It gets harder everyday."
"Leina, you are a tough girl. You can't let that get you down, I know it is hard" grams looks at me while she talks "I had to do the same thing, listen I was 14 when I lost both of my parents were murdered. It was and still is hard. One day I had them and the other they both were gone. All through school my friends said sorry and everything but then they just stopped, I then just let it be. I then heard how my friends were saying rumors about me."
I look up at my grams "what did you do?"
"I tried to ignore it. Then they said that I murdered them. I felt like the only person in the world. To date they haven't found the person who murdered them. The friends I thought were friends never were. Guess who was the only person who stood up for me when I couldn't? Grampa. I loved him ever since. I had gotten into so many arguments, fights. I've gotten into drugs, harming myself, all because of rumors. All I'm saying is when things become unbearable come talk to us. We can help you. I can help you. We all lost someone that we loved, we don't want to lose you too."
Papa comes in "let's get out of this funk. Who wants to watch TV?"
We all go in the living room I sit with grams and look at the TV. Mama is flipping channels and I see the news "go back!" She turns back and we hear "investigating the disappearance of Caroliena Marie Williams the daughter of late Julianna and Greg Williams. The officer Chad Wilkins is being investigated since he has admitted to signing her out of her high school. One of the students that is her best friend has this to say 'Carr I am so sorry that I was talking about my problems with my parents and not being courteous of your feelings please come back.' I also talked to her uncle Mr Qureshi 'Lei I love you so much and my family and I want you to come home. We miss you, I know it has been a day but you're strong you have Greg in you. You're a fighter and you are conscientious just like your mother and they are looking out for you, please come home or call to let us know if you've made it to where you're going. I love you girl.' It goes back to the lady "I have also talked to her sister Lauren and Brother in-law this is what they had to say 'Caroliena hi if you're listening to this' she gives a fake smile 'please come home, Justin and I miss you.' I also talked to the Wilkins and the police chief 'Caroliena please call the station, if you left to find your roots just call to let us know. We all know what you're thinking and it's not the answer. Please notify us and come back.' The police chief talks 'Miss Williams we know you are listening to this broadcast, I know about you and your struggles, we all are worried about you. If you call please ask for Wilkins or I and we'll help you the best we can. If someone took her please return her to family.' The lady comes back on "we hope this teenager igets home safely and is unharmed. She has a lot of family and friends who care about her.'" Grams turns off the TV.
"Enough of that, Liena call them that need to here you're safe."
I nod and pick up the phone, I call Rebecca "hello this is Rebecca."
"Rebecca its Caroliena."
"Oh my god Caroliena are you ok?"
"I'm ok. Is Chad there?"
"Dads at work call up there, but I'm glad you're ok."
"Thanks, I have to go." I hang up and call Wilkins "this is Wilkins how may I help you?"
"Chad?"
"Yes?"
"I saw the news."
"Caroliena, please tell me you're ok?"
"I'm ok."
"Girl why didn't tell me? And I know you saw me."
"I didn't want you to get hurt."
"Caroliena you know how much you mean to me and my family!"
"I know Wilkins."
"I'm about to get off work, call me in five minutes to finish...no hang on for a second I'm about to leave work." I'm on hold then I hear him again "ok, Caroliena, I'm out off my job. Can I come see you tomorrow, just me. I know you have both sets of grandparents with you. Mikey told me about them. Don't worry about your sister or anyone else. I can leave tomorrow morning and be there by lunch. We can both take a drive with your grams."
"I have to ask." Grampa looks at me and nods "do you trust him?" I nod back "yes you can but no one else."
"Put one of them on the phone or on speaker." I put it on speaker.
Grampa talks "hello Wilkins."
"Hello, as I was saying to Caroliena..."
Grampa interrupts "Liena!"
"Ok, as I was saying to Liena I would drive up tomorrow and talk to her. Its my day off of work and I could tell my wife I was taking a drive around. I won't tell anyone, Mikey has told me Liena is most likely with you. He's not scared. He loves you all Mr and Mrs Qureshi, plus the Marquels and Liena."
"That is fine just don't tell our other grandchild, she thinks we're all dead and we want to keep it that way."
"That is fine I better get off the phone, Liena call Mikey please?"
"I will! Bye see you tomorrow and no one else. Tell Harold I'm sorry and I miss him."
"Will do." I hang up.
"Liena can you trust him?"
"I can, he has been there for me when Mikey wasn't. He knows about Lauren and Justin, he has been trying to get me out of that house since I told him that I was being abused."
"That's all I needed to know."
We continue with the day not doing much and I go to bed.
