Chapter 14

Wilkins and I get in the state of North Carolina. We stop at a gas station for gas and drinks. I go to the bathroom at a diner next door and I cut myself by my stitches. I feel the blood rushing down and I put a paper towel on it. Someone walks in the bathroom as I'm washing my hands. I walk out and go back to the gas station. I find Wilkins sitting in the car I knock on the glass and the door unlocks.
"All good" he looks at me then notices my wrist that has continued bleeding "Carr why did you cut again?"
"I didn't my stitches got pulled when I was in the diner."
"Look at me Caroliena Marie Williams" I look at his face guilty "why?"
That one question has so many meaning but I can't speak, I cry "I don't know, I'm sorry. Please don't make me go to the hospital."
"I'm calling the ambulance now" Wilkins calls the ambulance when they come to the window I get out with Wilkins.
"What is the problem?"
"Her name is Lena her stitches came out and started bleeding profusely."
"How did they come out Lena?"
"I was in the bathroom, I think I got caught on a bench while I was coming out."
"Did you notice this at first?"
"No I just felt a sharp pain and it was over. I didn't realize it was bleeding until he mentioned it."
"Ok, I will wrap it up and everything. I will also like to take you to the hospital to have it looked at."
"I'm fine I was going to go to the hospital when I get home. Its not that far."
"Ok and make sure she goes to the hospital like she says."
"Oh I will, thank you."
I do the same we both get in the car "Carr why did you do that, why did you cut again?"
"Don't be mad at me, but I don't know why. It just happened. I swear I'm trying."
"Carr whenever you need to talk I'm here, Harold is going crazy not being able to see you. I live with him and has been driving me crazy." We stop at a light Chad looks on his phone and dials a number, he hands it to me "talk to him!"
I grab the phone and someone picks up on the third ring "hello dad have you found her?"
"Hi Harry," a pause "Caroliena is that you?"
"Yes it is Harry its me, I've missed you."
"What are you doing has dad found you?"
"Yes he found me."
"Where were you at?"
"I was in Ohio. With friends. I'm ok for now."
"Good. Now where are you?" I look around and we're in town "we're in the city we're going to the hospital."
"Why, what's wrong? Have you done anything?"
"Yes my stitches came out and I'm bleeding."
"I'm on my way be there in a few minutes." The call hangs up and I give the phone back. We get to the hospital as soon as Harold pulls in he gets out of his car and hugs me, I do the same.
"I've missed you Carr."
"I know so have I. I really missed you Harold."
"You're not leaving my side ok?"
"Ok" we walk in the hospital and immediately they see me and pull us in a room. They put new stitches in and ask me a series of questions. They discharge me to Chad. It's really late out. Harold drives me to his house. After a few minutes of silence Harry talks "Carr my dad said you can sleep over since its really late. I'm saying that you're sleeping with me in my bed. Mom, dad and Rebecca won't care. We'll eat and talk on my bed."
"Harry you don't have to do this, any of this!"
"Carr I told you when we first met I won't let anything hurt you, and I meant it."
"Thank you."
We get to his house and its completely dark. I hold Harry's hand as he leads me in the dark. Chad tells us goodnight and to behave then he walks upstairs. Harold makes me a sandwich and we both go upstairs to his room quietly. Once in there he closes his door, turned on the light, and changes out of his clothes. I turn my head and go sit on the bed while eating. Harold doesn't talk until I finish eating.
"Caroliena, why did you run? Why didn't you just talk to me?"
"Harold I just needed to get out the state, with everything going on I just needed a break. I found the break, but I had to by myself. It is hard to start moving forward when most things keep pulling me back. Every time I make an accomplishment something gets in the way. I hate it!"
"Caroliena you don't have to move forward until you're ready. When you are I'll be there with you. I don't want to lose my girl." I look at him with tears in my eyes and Harold wipes them away with his finger. I hug him and fall asleep in his arms. I wake up suddenly and scream lightly, Harold wakes up instantly and holds me tight "what's wrong baby girl?"
I start panting "bad dream."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"It's about the house but it was started by someone."
"That means someone wanted them dead."
"No it can't be, my parents were so loved. No one would kill them. They weren't murdered by anyone" with each word I cry harder and harder until I can barely breathe.
Harold holds me tighter not letting me go "Carr?"
"I won't believe that Julianna and Greg Williams were murdered. I can't believe that about my parents."
"I know you won't and that's what I love about you, Carr you are strong and you have a lot. Just know that I love you."
I hug him harder and I lay back down on his bare chest "I love you too Harry." I fall back asleep. I wake up to Harry rubbing circles on my back, I smile and close my eyes.
"I know you're up, Carr bear."
I laugh out loud "why did you call me that?"
"Call you what?"
"You know what, when is breakfast?"
"It's already ready I was waiting for you to get up. You kinda drool a lot I might add."
I smack him on his chest "no I don't."
"I for a fact have proof you want to see a video?"
"No!"
"Fine Harry picks me up and carries me to the door."
"What are you doing Harold? Don't take me downstairs like this!" I hold on to the door frame when he manages to get the door open with me.
"Let go Caroliena" I shake my head I feel a sharp pain on my wrist.
"Ow my wrist Harry let go. My stitches ripped."
Harold let's me go and looks at my arm, it's bleeding a lot. He runs into his bathroom to get a towel, gauze, surgical kit, and med tape.
"What's taking you two so long?" Rebecca comes up the stairs "mom and dad wants you both to come down now."
"Tell them we'll be down in a minute." Rebecca leaves back downstairs. Harold cleans my wound and restitch it up, puts gauze and tape on it "all done."
"Thanks, and no worries I've been through worse. My sister and I was playing on this metal thing and I fell on it broke my leg, bone came through my skin and I screamed then passed out. I was about five."
"Meeting you at five I wonder.."
"Don't because my dad would have had your head. He was so protective of me. I really do miss him."
"I know you miss him. Let's go eat before they come and chase us down."
We walk downstairs in the kitchen. "Good morning Caroliena, how are you?"
"I'm ok better. Really. It's been a hard time. Lauren, where is she?" They all look at me sad.
Constance talks "last night I went over there to tell her you've been found. But..." She lowers her head.
"Tell me I'm scared."
"She's in critical condition at the hospital, she was beat pretty badly and in a coma. We don't know anything else. Mikey went to see her before that happened and no one would answer the door. Caroliena Lauren is having a child. With the coma we don't know if the baby is going to make it, or Lauren."
