Chapter 4

My sister and her loser boyfriend leaves and I'm pissed. They doctor comes back in.

"Hi, Caroliena we're going to take you up to your room upstairs."

"Ok thanks."

They move me upstairs and I go to sleep.

I wake up in the morning to my sister in the chair.

"Laurie hi."

She looks up "Caroliena did you mean that?"

"Of course not but you have to listen to me sometimes I'm your little sister."

"I know, I'm sorry you remind me so much of mom and dad."

"I do?"

"Yes Caroliena, you look like mom a lot but you have dads characteristics."

"Wow."

"I realized something...when you get mad like you did yesterday you have dads angry face." She starts laughing. I do too.

"Laurie I have to tell you something..."

"What is it?"

"The reason I ended up here because of this..." I show her my thigh and my wrists "I had cut too deep and I had passed out yesterday."

"Why?"

"If I tell you, you won't believe me."

"Why not, try me?"

"When mom and dad died it was very hard for me, I was just six. I started cutting after I moved in with you. Then Justin came along, I loved him at first, he was very nice."

"What happened Caroliena?"

"He started to hit me, I was young so I didn't want to tell you..." I start crying "I kept it to myself for years and the only way I released it was through cutting. I had seen you with him and you were so happy for the first time in along time I didn't want to disturb that. You had moved on and I was still in the dark. I couldn't break away. Then school started so I stayed with friends. I was out of the house for awhile so I was ok. That's how I was going through the days."

"Caroliena..."

"It's ok, I want to ask you a question."

"Go ahead."

"Why did you think I just made everything up?"

"I-I don't believe you."

"If you don't believe me go ask him if he doesn't confess then I'm out of your life because, why would I lie about that, seriously why?"

"I have to leave."

"No! You have to listen to me I'm blood, I'm family and your choosing him over me. Thanks for the sisterly love Laurie. I appreciate it. You can leave. I'm out of the house when I get out."

She leaves and Sgt Wilkins walks in.

"Hi how are you feeling?"

"I'm bummed."

"Why?"

"My sister still doesn't believe me and I told her everything. I also said that when I get out of here I'm out of her life/house."

"Wow you said that?"

"Yes and I'm not lying."

"I believe you, I'm going to be right back ok?"

I nod and he walks out. The nurse comes in with the cop and Dr five minutes later.

"Hey good morning Caroliena. How are you doing today?"
