This is stupid.

I didn't sign up for this.

I'm trained to be a soldier. To hold a gun. To rush into war in full uniform, screaming battle cries into the night...

When they said I would be working for S.H.I.E.L.D I was under the impression the Avengers and their super spies would stay in their corner while the actually soldiers did the shooting on the other side of the playground.

Instead, I straighten my tie, I'm walking towards the home of a super villain under the name of Pharaoh.

It's a stupid name.

And a stupid mansion.

I watch a black limo park on the outside of the house. The driver gets out to talk to the valet. When the man and woman get out of the limo, I slide through the left side of the limo, and exit the right side without effort.

There. Now I've officially arrived.

Putting on my best smile, I march towards the front doors.

"Don't March!" Reba's voice fills my head causing me to jump.

"Geez, Reba. Don't sneak up on my like that! And you can't read my mind. I'm far away from you," I say.

"I know how you walk, Tim. You walk like a soldier. And I can't exactly sneak up on you if I'm talking into your ear," Reba says.

The hearing aid was a pretty darn good idea, but it feels uncomfortable on my ear. Good thing I have excellent hearing.

I'm shocked that there are so many people here for this event. It's more like an art gallery or a Broadway musical rather than a gun show.

Ehm.

Correction.

Weapon's party.

Although the women look nice. I do appreciate that.

Men and woman line up at the door and await for their names to be read and evaluated.

Can't have anyone crashing the party.

"Don't shake," Reba says.

"I won't," I reply.

"and don't say anything that'll give you away," Reba says.

"You know. Talking to myself looks pretty suspicious," I mention.

"Sorry," Reba says.

"Yeah why couldn't Cora or Charlie talk to me?" I ask.

"Because Cora is making Charlie watch the ship. And Cora is watching the house with Howie," Reba says.
