Chapter 4 ~ It's Me

***

I notice the green chick first.

Then Cora. Our eyes meet but the brief acknowledgement is quickly turned into scowling. She looks different in the light, though which shocks me. She's not as scary.

I return to the green girl.

She wears a blue sweater and jeans, both of which are different colors, but somehow she rocks it. And her long black hair is pulled into a fancy braid down her back.

"She's green."

Instantly I cover my mouth. Why was this happening? How was I supposed to fix my last sentence? Hey, I'm sorry, I've never seen a green girl before. Actually you're only the second girl I've ever seen. (I said I've met women before and Appiffa counts as a woman-being as she's 300 years old.)

The green skinned green eyed girl, who lounges on a couch in the middle of the room, raises an eyebrow at me, "and you're pale."

I shrug, my face feels heated, "Lots of ginger's are pale."

Greenie sits up, "no. You're not gingers-gingers are orange. You're red. Like blood."

"Thanks for the visual," I reply.

She grins. At least her teeth are white. Okay I seriously need to get my brain in check. I'm gonna offend someone eventually.

"Are you always this green?," I say.

Really, Charlie? You had to say something? Just go ahead and open your big mouth!

"All the time, 24/7. You should see me in public," Greenie laughs, "I'm a party animal."

"I bet. Is that what everyone things you are? An animal?" I ask.

She begins to laugh, "I like this kid! Cora, where'd you pick him up again?"

Cora rolls her eyes.

"Um, hello, everyone notices Kim but and Cora but no one sees us?"

"I wouldn't expect a green non-human to have a name like Kim," I say to... Kim.

Kim shakes her head, "believe it or not-I'm a full blown human."

"Ehm. Once again-do you not see me?"

I glance over and do a double take. One minute he's there and the next-gone. The brown headed girl, who stands where the boy way, smacks the air.

"Pete!" She yells, "knock it off!"

A flash of light and the boy is visible again. A boy who is the exact copy of the girl standing behind him. Same green eyes, same height, and same nearly dark brown hair.

My jaw drops, "You were..."

"Invisible?" The boy says, "yeah I was."

"Please excuse my brother," The girl who smacked... Not thin air but the boy's hair when he was invisible.... "He can be delusional sometimes."

Pete mimics the girl, "please excuse my sister she is a...."

"Excuse me! That is not appropriate! There are children here!" The girl screams before punching her brother.

"Did you just..." I stutter.

"Read my mind?" Pete says, "yeah it's annoying. Imagine having to live with that for fifteen years. Word of advice, my friend, don't think anything you wouldn't say out loud. Otherwise Little Loud brain here might say it for you."
