Driving into through to the city felt like an eternity. The day was gloomy, much like my mood. I noticed that we were back in my normal world and I was thankful that Claire put a charm on me. To others, I'll be a beautiful brown haired woman with dewy brown eyes and small thin lips. To vampires, and Claire of course, I still have my normal identity.
We drove in two black cars. My grandmother was in the leading car, with two unknown bridesmaids. Claire and I were in the second car, thankfully. We drove in silence but knowing Claire, she was probably worried about my offering due to Glorina being ill.
"Rochelle, did Tiago really take it that far?" She asked, but I didn't bother looking back at her. I was still pissed at myself for causing a friend that pain.
"Yeah. I could not stop, even though I wanted to. He pushed that I shouldn't stop." I said, emotionless.
"Did you feel tired thereafter? Powerless?" She pressed on, trying to get out answers.
"Yeah. Tired." I answered. I couldn't think straight anymore. Dominic stooped pretty low, making me seem heartless.
"Oh." And a few moments of silence passed but I decided to confide in Claire. She's all I have right now.
"Dominic hates me. I hurt Glorina. I miss Lawla." I said, taking out a bottle of water from the mini bar fridge.
"Glorina knew what it entailed, she won't be upset. May I ask why Dominic hates you?" She asked, genuinely interested.
"I... Uhm. It's too much to explain." I muttered.
Claire looked thoughtful for a moment and smiled as an idea came to mind.
"May I?" She asked, gesturing to my hand. I nodded and gave my hand, which enclosed with both of hers. "Right. Now close your eyes and think of what happened. Think carefully and be honest, okay?"
"Yes." And I did it. But it hurt looking back at the argument myself. To think that he has been thinking all those nasty things about me after I treated him like a friend. Fucking asshole.
"Wow." Said Lawla with a smile.
"What's there to smile about? Seriously."
She rolled her eyes at me like it was the most obvious answer in the world. "Firstly, touché on the knife throwing. Your aim is impeccable." She complimented. "Listen, Dominic does not hate you. His angry because his mother got killed by a vampire."
"What?" I asked, flabbergasted.
"Yes. He was only thirteen. It was the talk of the town for sure. Don't blame him. But I can tell you this much, he does not know about your mom. His oblivious and is disinterested with the vampire world. He is also holding back love." She explained.
"Love? I thought so. He nearly killed me after mentioning Glorina." I said, rolling my eyes and downing the water in one go.
She looked at me with a curious expression but shook it off. "Look, we have arrived." She said, gesturing to an office building. It confused me as to why it was here of all places, but I did not have the energy to argue. We soon got out of the car and followed my grandmother into the elegant building, where we were helped by assistants. With my grandmother's high ability to use her persuasion on people, the two assistants ushered us into a huge office with beautiful imported furniture. I was already impressed.
A short, chubby woman with amazingly blond hair entered the office as quickly as she could. "Good morning. Sorry, was rushed in from a meeting. I'm Simone. Who's the beautiful bride to be?" She asked, scanning each one of us.
My grandmother chimed in, already taking control. Oh hell no.
"Hi darling. My granddaughter is the one in the blue dress. We are actually here to try on a few of your specialty bridal gowns. The black ones?" She asked, sweetly.
