Prologue

I walk through the hallways that belonged to the orphanage where I lived. I wouldn't call it home as I wasn't really wanted here. Home would be where my mate lived, not here and definitely not where my parents lived.

My name is Ariel Collins, orphan child Twenty-Three. I just turned sixteen three days ago and have officially been here for the past fourteen years of my on going existence.

My parents were very much alive, but I still considered myself an orphan.

I've been taking refuge in this orphanage as I was too much of reminder of what my parents shared; leaving me here at the young age of two.

I never really understood why all the people here hated me so much; the kids, the staff members. When I finally comforted them they all blew up claiming I shouldn't be here, that I had parents, alive parents.

The kids despised me, they all knew I had the one thing they craved; most of the staff members looked down at me simply because I was an extra load they were required to tolerate.

When I researched through my file, I learned their names.

Andrew Collins and Jessica Brews.

I noticed that they didn't share the same last name. When I looked them up, I found my answers to everything.

Exactly twelve years ago, the day before I was left here they both had discovered their mates. My father, Andrew was mated to a pack member named Elizabeth Crowns and they had two girls and a boy. My mother mated to a Beta named Chase Brews and had twins; a girl and a boy.

I was too much of a reminder of their past, of their marriage so they decided to get rid of me.

And here I am.

I was left without parents, I never experienced love a parent could only give. Nor have I had the chance to meet my half-siblings so I never experienced sibling love. Never had I made a friend, since everyone here hates me.

Yet I still had hope, there's still one type of love that I may have the chance to experience, and maybe it can teach me love all together.

True love.

That's the only thing that kept me sane my entire life. The chance to meet my mate.

Each werewolf has a mate and that includes the possibility of a human as well. Each human is paired with a werewolf or vampire as their mate, but since vampires are rare having a werewolf would be more common.

And that fact alone has kept me happy and positive all my life.

He was made for me. He can't help but love me, care for me, laugh with me, protect me, be possessive of me and many other things that I have only seen from afar.

Knowing that my prince charming is out there. I might just get a brother, a sister, parents, friends as well.

And my chance to meet him is coming up in a couple of days.

The Grand Mating Ball.

Where all unmated males and females above the age of sixteen are required to attend.

Here at the orphanage it's a big deal, Once finding your mate, you're free and away from this hell hole.

And my time is coming up as well. I just know that this will be my opportunity to finally understand, learn and experience what love really is.
