Chapter Six

I sat there for nearly an hour, still flabbergasted about Thane's bipolar behaviour. Well I understood it, but it took me a while to process it. I mean what the hell! Have some compassion and don't be such a jerk.

Shaking my head lightly clearing my head, I stood and made my to the kitchen. When entering the kitchen, my eyes narrowed at the scene in front of me. 

"What do you think you're doing?!" Ashley screeched at me. 

"Well, I should be asking you the same question" I snapped back. I had just walked in on her about to slap a little girl, who looked to be around 9. I immediately ran over and stopped her, pushing the little girl behind in a protective manner.

"That is none of your business human. I do what I want around here, I am Thane's favourite after all. I don't get his little obsession with you but I'm pretty sure it'll pass." She replied as she looked down at her nails, as if this was the most casual conversation ever.

"I'm sorry to crush your little dream, oh wait I'm actually not. But, I hate to say this but you were never Thane's favourite, he just admitted in front of the entire pack just two days ago that he was never with you, nor with anyone else; announced me as his mate and Luna. Moreover proving that I'm not something that'll just pass and go away, I'm the Luna of this pack and above you. I will not tolerate any foul words against me or my relationship with my mate. Nor will I tolerate any bulling, especially to little kids in this pack. So I suggest you back off and learn you place."

I was furious. I hated bullying, especially when it came down to someone picking on someone much lower than him or her. I knew exactly how it felt, having being put down my entire life at the orphanage. But when she started bad mouthing about me and my relationship with Thane, I was seeing red. I'm already having a hard time getting him to open up and I don't need her bashing on me.

"Why you little shit! Who do you think you are? Just because Thane's never got a taste of me and you're mate doesn't mean he hasn't done anything else. They are other ways of getting pleasure and I was there to give him the pleasure. Just because you're his mate and the 'so called' Luna of this pack doesn't give you the authority to abuse me like this-" Ashley never got to finish what she was about to say before she was cut off by a deathly snarl from behind me.

I turned around to see Thane standing there looking insanely pissed. His eyes were black, like really black. His fists were clenched and he was snarling directly at Ashley. He walked over slowly, as if he were the predator and she his prey. Not once did he remove his gaze from her. As he passed by me, he pushed me gently behind me. My hand was still holding the little girl's who I noticed was whimpering. I knelt down and hugged her as I watched Thane glare at Ashley.

"Not another word from your mouth pup. Not another word should be said about my mate from that filthy mouth of yours. She is above you in every way and form. She has the authority to do whatever she pleases. I don't know what happened here, but I support her, not you. Now LEAVE" This was our first encounter after the COD incident two hours ago. I knew right away that Thane was not in control anymore, his wolf was in control and he was mad.

I looked at the little girl who looked frightened and gently grabbed her face and looked her in the eyes.

"What's your name sweetie?" I asked her as soothingly as I could.

"A-amber" Her eyes were casted to her feet, not once looking up.

"Ok Amber, I want you to go straight to the Alpha and Beta floor and wait for me in the alpha bedroom ok?" She nodded her head. "If you want there is a little nursery with a small playground you can play in for a while. It may be a while so you may need to wait for me, now go" I gave her a gentle push before standing up. I saw her look back hesitantly, I nodded my head reassuringly letting her know it was ok and she ran off.

I looked over at where Thane stood in front of me, his back was still to me so I couldn't see his face. He was breathing really heavy; he was trying to get back his control. But from the growling and snarling that echoed the room I knew it wasn't working.

I walked around him and stood in front of him. He had his eyes closed. I hesitantly and gently placed a hand on his right cheek and his eyes snapped open. They were so black, and full of agony. I could tell that he had been through a lot. This was the first time I saw emotion in Thane's eyes. And they were filled with hurt, agony, anger and adoration.

"What's your name?" I asked, not surprised that I wasn't scared even a little bit.

"Taj" He growled out. I needed to calm him down, and the only way was to distract him from what had just happened.

"That's a beautiful name, does it have a meaning?" I asked him as I gently grabbed his hand and lead him to a couch that was near by. He sat down first, and as I was about to sit beside him. He grabbed my hips and placed me on his lap. I gave him a small smile in return.

"Yes, both in Africa and India it means Crown. Thane is a name from France; it means Claw. It represents our character. Crown represents our status as Alphas and leaders. And Claw represents our protective and fierce nature."

I was so interested in learning more about him. I continued asking him questions about him and Thane for the next hour. I learnt a lot about Thane's personality, his likes and dislikes. I also leant a lot about Taj, he seemed to be much more open and affectionate than Thane. 

As I sat on his lap and talked, he would be gently rubbing my back in slowly circles. From time to time Taj would also play with my hair, twirling it around his finger, pushing strands behind my ear. It made me feel loved, something I haven't ever felt before; and it felt amazing. I felt cherished, I wanted this everyday, but all good things come to an end at some point.

Slowly as the hour passed, Taj was getting more and more calm. I looked into his eyes and saw that the black orbs were slowly fading and Thane's blue eyes began to reappear. Once Thane seemed to be back in control, he gently sat me down beside so I wasn't siting on his lap anymore.

It hurt, it really did. But I instantly covered it up with a smile.

"Thank you for that." Was all he said before he got up and walked away. I sighed; getting Thane to open up will be a tough challenge. Luckily though, I loved challenges so I was going to enjoy chasing this badass Alpha wolf.
