Sheriff George Patterson knocked on the black door.
"Good afternoon, Elizabeth. I was concerned about Bill Malloy".
"Has something happened to him?", she asked.
"He's probably at the Blue Whale?".
"Maybe, I called Sheriff Jonas Carter to look into the matter. He was in charge before me. He was involved in Burke Devlin's car accident in nineteen fifty-seven".
"Is he dead?".
"Maybe; maybe not. There's a lot of rumors in Collinsport about werewolves, and vampires. And, for my idea of weirdness in Collinwood been thrown out, I still do my job. Besides, in the scheme of things, if Roger Collins, Burke Devlin, or Sam Evans, know what happened, it's up to them to tell me if there's a body in Widow's Hill".

Sheriff Jonas Carter had short black hair, hazel eyes, and tall. He smoked a cigarette. He wore a grey shirt, grey trousers, a black belt, black socks, and black shoes that was polished. And a black tie. On his right hand was a wedding ring on his middle finger; on his head was a grey hat.
He stared at Burke Devlin.
"Burke, what's going on?", he asked.
"I told you, Jonas, there's a lot of crimes that I, and Sheriff Patterson, are investigating. I spent five years in jail for nothing".
"You have a point Burke. But you have business in Bangor, Maine. And New York".
"That's my personal business, Jonas".
"And where's Bill Malloy?".
"He knows a lot about the Collins and Stoddard family. We're investigating Willie Loomis". Burke stopped talking.
"Willie Loomis. He was working for Roger Collins".
"Well, ever since he looked at the framed portrait of Barnabas Collins he's obsessed with him".
"Some people say he's a vampire".
"Vampires don't exist".
"That is the other problem", Burke Devlin said.
"You don't want to go up to Collinwood Manor and scare everyone off, Burke". Burke smirked. He took his time listening.
"Jonas, I can and do what must be done. If Roger Collins is responsible, then God help him". He left the Sheriff's Office, and drove to Collinwood Manor.
