Bill Malloy stared at Elizabeth Collins Stoddard.

"It pains me to involve myself in your business. Besides, it is irrational thoughts that force me to go anywhere near Collinsport, let alone in Bangor, Maine. Burke Devlin is a man who you shouldn't let come to your house. And Roger Collins has stayed out of trouble, I hear".

"Bill, you're not trying to say...".

"That irrational men stay rational for a short time. No, I won't let the news travel from The Blue Whale to the cannery. What I'm attempting to say is that secrets must be taken not to the grave, but to be spoken of while there's time to have meaningful conversations".

"Bill, I know my family has clouded your judgement...".

"My judgement shouldn't fall to you, Elizabeth".

"If you need anything from me, Bill, let me know".

"I will, Elizabeth. Good night".

"Good night".
