My name is Victoria Winters.

For a long time I was determined, as if by fate, to have the Governess job at Collinsport, Maine. The Bangor train was full last year; the train in which I saw Burke Devlin and Roger Collins, lead me to my trip; I was determined not to dwell on the fact that David Collins was disturbed. I knew what must be a terrible horror that seeped into the minds of everyone in Collinwood Manor, including Elizabeth Collins Stoddard.


I was in my bedroom when I heard a ghostly wind.

I blinked my eyes.

And, suddenly, there was a woman gliding towards me in a white wedding gown.

"My name is Josette du Pre", she uttered.

And I then screamed, as I fainted from shock.
