Chapter 37. YES!

Steve had been acting weird ever since you two woke up, you had a date with him, since it was your 1 year anniversary. Bucky said he was taking Steve out to buy a tux.

You spent your day shopping with Loki, he had a date with a mortal, and needed something nice to wear, something other than Asgardian style. Odin had revoked his sentence after the take down over a year ago, since Thor told him about you, and how he defended you and supported you.

Loki convinced you to buy a new dress to wear to the anniversary dinner. You went from store to store, but you didn't find anything that caught your eye. Loki grew tired and suggested that the two of you should go to a second-hand store. You unwillingly agreed, since you didn't find anything.

When you get in the store, your eyes fall on an armless, mid length A-Line dress with a round neck, medium thick straps and a black band around the waist. You realize it's not the design that attracts your attention, it's the color. Crimson red.

You try it on, and it's like it's made especially for you. Your walk out of the fitting room to show Loki, and he smiles when he see your dress. He hands you a pair of matching pumps with black bows on the side. You eagerly try them on.

"So, what do you think?" "I believe you have found the perfect one." He says. You feel extremely happy over the perfect dress and you thank Loki for dragging you to the store. You pay for the dress and shoes and leave the store.

"Let's get back to the Tower so I can get ready." "No, this is your anniversary, I got help from Natasha to make an appointment with a stylist. Apparently, she is one of the best." "Are you serious? Oh my god! Thank you!" You say and hug him while you try to not jump in excitement.

When they're finished with your hair and makeup and you're wearing the dress and heels, you look at yourself in the mirror. Your eyes start to water and you tilt your head up and fan your eyes, trying your best not to ruin the makeup. Loki rush over to you and look at you.

"Y/N, the woman said the makeup was waterproof, you can cry, it's ok." "I'm... A little over a year ago I was ready for giving up on love and everything good life had to offer. Look at me now. I'm... I'm going to dinner with the most fantastic man in the world, and I... I look beautiful." "Shhhh, it's ok, you are indeed beautiful. Your beauty worth the title of a goddess." Loki says, trying to calm you down.

"Are you ready? We don't want to make Steve wait now, do we?" Loki asks with a smile on his face. You nod and he leads you outside where there's a town car waiting for you. Loki gives you a kiss on the cheek and you get in the car.

You enter the restaurant and see Steve sit at a table by the corner. Out of habit you study his behavior, he seems nervous, he fiddles with his hands, and his hands must be clammy, since he keeps rubbing them against his clothes. You start to walk over to him.

When Steve notices you he gets up and wait for you to take a seat, he moves the chair in for you and kiss you on the cheek, then sit back in his chair.

"Where's our menus?" "I already ordered." "What did you order?" "It's a surprise." "Ok, but if there's a living octopus on my plate, I'm gonna kill you" "Why would you think?.. Never mind, remind me to never let Tony recommend us to 'exotic' restaurants." "Yeah, or just restaurants in general." You both laugh.

A waiter comes and serve you a big piece of chocolate cake each. You look at Steve in shock and excitement. "I thought you might like some chocolate cake." "Some? This is enough to make me full!" "I know, I didn't want you to feel embarrassed for buying several salads, and to be honest, I have always wanted to have dessert before dinner." Steve says and winks at you.

The taste of the chocolate cake is amazing. It's almost overwhelming. With thick layers of regular cake and thin layers of brownies and frosting between them.

When you both finish, you notice Steve get nervous. You're about to ask if he's ok when he gets up from his chair and goes to stand beside you.

"Y/N, when I first found you in the desert, I immediately felt a connection towards you. And when your face healed, after you pour water on yourself, I saw how beautiful you were. When we first spoke, you made me feel nervous. You had a positive attitude towards people, even if you knew what world we live in. You have a great influence on people, and you bring out the best in them, even someone like Loki.

Y/N, you make me happy, you make me forget how bad the world is. If I feel sad, you make that go away, you make me forget all the sadness and you make me feel loved." He says. His eyes are watery but smiling.

He gets down on one knee, and takes out a box and opens it to reveal a beautiful platinum ring with victorian design and a huge asscher cut Crimson red stone.

"Y/N, would you make me the happiest man alive and do me the honor of being my wife?" Steve ask. You start to cry of happiness. "YES!" You yell. People in the restaurant starts to cheer and applaud. Steve takes your hand and slide the ring on your ring finger. It fits perfectly. You get up and embrace him, kiss him.

"Hey Steve, does the dame have a friend?" You hear Bucky say behind you. You turn to see everyone stand there with joyful smiles. Tony steps forward and takes a microphone up to his mouth. "Since my good friend Steve here is now engaged, let's celebrate with some champagne, my treat!"
