Chapter 1

Katniss P.O.V.

I'm standing in the shower.

Annie is going to be here in an hour and than Finnick in about two hours to pick us up.

Finnick and I decided that we would go on a road trip. I would bring my friend Annie and Finnick would bring his friend Peeta. School ended yesterday and today we are going.

I met Finnick Odair in school my first day of school a year ago. He just came up to me in the dining room and introduced himself. One thing led to another and we became friends from that moment. He introduced me to his group that includes Clove, Cato, the twins Glimmer and Marvel, Johanna and Gale. I became good friends with them too but it was only after I became friends I found out that they were the school's most popular students, and now I also am because I'm one of them.

Apparently Peeta also belonged to this group before his family moved, so everyone are super excided about  the fact that he has moved back. His family came a few days ago, but only Finnick has had time to meet him.

I really want to meet with Peeta. Peetas family moved away the day before I moved here. So you could say that we missed each other. Finnick has told so much to me about Peeta.

His family owns the newly opened bakery that has been closed since I moved here. Peetas family owned it before but it went bad so they had to move but now that they have enough money, they wanted to try again with the bakery here.

Apparently Peeta is a baker and painter. And since Finnick is Finnick, he explained Peeta like this:

"He is tall oh and muscular after all the years of being a baker's son, all that dough kneading and lifting heavy baking sheets and ten kilos flour sacks. He is every girl's favorite guy every girl wants him and he is super handsome with his ashy blond hair and eyes as blue, bright and deep as the ocean itself ".

And no, Finnick isn't gay, just a little bit... special. He likes to tease me a lot.

Annie on the on the other hand is my old friend from Kentucky.

She also came a few days ago to live with her aunt. Her family moved to Scandinavia because her dad got a job in Sweden ... Stockholm I think, but Annie didn't want to move with them to Sweden.

I moved here (this place is called the Capitol) a year ago. I lived in Kentucky with my family. But when I was eleven my father died and my mother left the world for a life in bed. She became depressed after my father died, so the family's income stopped and I had to take on the role of breadwinner and do what I could to get the family to survive.

But a year ago when my mother had begun to live a little again, she decided to dress up and go out and dance. With her home that night, she had our future breadwinner.

My mother made me and my little sister Prim to move from our home in Kentucky to the Capitol.

I turn off the shower and wrap an towel around me before I go out of the bathroom and end up in my room. My bedroom and bathroom are stuck together and are both very large.

I frown. I still haven't gotten used to live rich.

My stepfather Plutarch Heavensbee is very rich. I don't really know what he does and I don't care either. I just know that Plutarch gives me and Prim everything we want, even if we don't need it. But we only get expensive things which annoys me.
