Chapter 20: Hey there cousins!

Chapter 20

Katniss P.O.V.

I start to feel a bit uncomfortable in the compact silence. I take a step to to the side and cling on Peetas arm, as if I'm afraid or something.

I glance at Marvel and Glimmer who are both sitting pale and quiet with a bowl of cereal in front of them on the table.

I guess my grandparents are rich or something. I've always know that Marvel and Glimmers family are rich and now I know why, it's the whole family the Sanders family that is rich, not just Marvel and Glimmers.

"Okay to break the silence, I'm going to step up and talk", Uncle Anton says. "This is Katniss and like I said I met her and her friends on the road when their car ran out of gas, and I still can't believe that I could have that kind of luck".

"Are you really the daughter of our Mary-Anne?" An old lady asks.

"Yeah, or well my mothers name is Mary-Anne and I gotta say that she really is a mix you two", I say to my grandparents.

And it's true. They have three kids. All of them are very much alike and they are mixed between their mother and father.

But all of a sudden I hear a scream and all of us jump. I think I almost got a heart attack. I thanhear that is was Glimmer.

"OH MY GOD KATNISS! YOU ARE OUR LONG LOST COUSIN!" She roars and runs up to me and hugs me.

I swear that she is trying to squeeze out my intestines because of how hard she hugs me.

When she lets go of me she just looks at me and tears starts to run down her eyes.

"Omg Katniss, you're mine and Marvels cousin", she says.

"Yeah I guess so", I say. "And little Prim".

"Omg yes! Oh little Primmy, she's our little cousin", she says smiling. "But one of my best friends is my cousin".

"I feel like Marvel is awfully quiet", Finnick says challenging, looking at one of his best friends.

I look towards the table, he is sitting there and just stares at me. Like I'm a ghost or someone.

"Marvel?" Glimmer says.

Suddenly Marvel stands up so quickly that his chair falls to the groand and he runs up and hugs me.

"I knew it! I somehow knew it, I've always felt a connection to you and Primmy and, and I've notice how Prims and your moms eyes and hair and faces are very much alike Uncle Anton", Marvel shouts. "I can't believe that you're our cousin, omg Katniss!"

He lets go of me and I see can that he is crying. This is the first time ever, I've seen Marvel Sanders cry. 

"Oh Marvel, it's okay, it was a shock for me as well, but I think this is great", I say and smile at Marvel and Glimmer. "I'm angry at my mother though, I mean why the hell keep a secret like this? Especially after you two've been at my house, and she fed you and all. I know that she right from start when she saw you that, she knew who you were, but she still didn't say anything".

"Yeah why didn't she?" Glimmer says, but than she turns to her dad. "Or better yet, why didn't you say anything? You knew your sister had a babygril named Katniss, you told us that before Katniss and our friends came in the house!"

"Mary didn't want it to be told, and after what we did, I thought that I could do her that one favor", he answers. "Just one favor for my little sister".

"But dad, Katniss is our cousin, you didn't think we had the right to know?" Marvel says angrily. "We're family but we never even knew before now!"
