I heard a sort of alarm go off and everyone looked up. There weren't any lights but there was a very annoying and loud sound that was going off and making my ears ring. People who seemed well enough jumped out of their beds, took their weapons, and ran outside the infirmary. Towairaito signaled us to follow her while Matt ran out the door. We followed her to the fields where she opened what seemed to be a secret manhole. "You guys have to go down there and stay until someone goes down here and tells you guys it's clear." But why-" She cut me off by pushing me towards and down the manhole. "Go! We'll handle it out here!" We climbed down and heard the manhole cover close. When we got to the bottom we saw people around the perimeter of the room. It was a dim room with a small light in the middle that gave off a golden glow. There were mostly kids around and moms and dads were there as well. We sat down in the far left corner and waited. As we waited I saw that Jackie and Inez were holding hands. It didn't really surprise me that they got together. After they found out Matt and I were together their friendship grew and became lovers eventually. I smiled and pulled my legs to my chest. I hugged my legs and rested my chin on them as I smiled sadly at the memories before that day.

I closed my eyes as tears slowly started slipping down my cheeks; silently crying. I felt a hand on my left shoulder and opened my eyes. I looked over and saw Jackie smiling sadly at me. I smiled back as she hugged me. I heard a shout and spun around to see someone. He had wings and a bright sword that flashed and glowed in the dim room. He swung his sword at me and I stepped back. It seemed to happen in slow motion. The sword slowly came at me while I stepped back away from him and in the corner of my eye I saw the shadows starting to move. They rippled and moved in front of me, fusing and forming together. The sword swung toward the head and it was parried. In front of me was Matt, who was wielding a black steel sword. The sword started to slip from the Hikari's hand, but he gripped the sword and parried the sword back. Matt swung and parried the sword hard, knocking the sword of the Hikari's hand. Matt sliced at his chest and a made a cut through his clothes. I looked closer and saw there was a cut but there wasn't any blood. He disintegrated and exploded into shiny white particles that faded away.

Matt turned around and smiled at me. "Are you okay?! Is everything up there okay?" I asked, started to panic. He didn't seem to have any visible cuts or injuries but I was still worried. He walked up to me and hugged me, putting his face into the crook of my neck. I blushed and hugged him back, still not sure why he hugged me out of the blue. He recoiled and I saw that he was the one that was worried. "C'mon, if Hikaris can get down here then it's not safe." He motioned for everyone to follow him as we went up the ladder. He opened the manhole cover and climbed out, extending a hand to help me out. I grabbed it and pushed myself up the last few steps. I looked around and saw many people fighting. Hikaris were disintegrating and exploding into white particles while Kages were being dragged back to the infirmary. "Dang it..." Matt ran over to some Hikaris that were ganging up on a Kage and swung his sword.

It cleanly sliced through them and they disintegrated into white particles. The person bowed their head and seemed to be thanking Matt. Jackie, Inez, and I ran over to him. He turned around and said, "Sorry about that. Anyway, you should go somewhere safe until we get you some weapons and train you to fight. Or, at least fight like a Kage. Oh yeah, this is Higure. He's Towairaito's boyfriend."

I smiled both at Higure and the fact that she wasn't trying to go after Matt

I smiled both at Higure and the fact that she wasn't trying to go after Matt. I looked back at Matt and asked, "Are you sure? I know you could probably handle it out here but I would like to stay and see if you're going to be alri-" He leaned in and softly pressed his lips against mine. I jumped a bit; startled by the sudden contact that I hadn't had for 5 years. But I didn't blush this time like the earlier events; I had gotten used to being around Matt after such a long time. I softly pressed back, returning the kiss. We pulled back, knowing what we had to do. He smiled at me before he and Higure ran off to fight. I turned around and faced Inez an Jackie. "Cmon, let's go to the infirmary and see if there's anything we can do."

We entered the infirmary to see tons of people in stretchers and blood-stained bandages. I ran over to someone and asked, "Where's Ash? Isn't she supposed to be here?" A portal appeared to the left of us and out jumped Ash. She looked around her and sighed, then asked us, "Can you guys help? It looks like there are a lot of people." I helped Ash wrap bandages around the patients while Inez and Jackie helped with taking people in from the battlefield. Sweat dripped down my face as I ran around with bandages to the patients that needed the most help, bumping into some nurses here and there. I felt a bit woozy looking at my bloodstained hands and the edges of my white long-sleeved shirt. After a few minutes I saw Jackie and Inez running around with bandages as well. I finished right after Ash and was tempted to lean against her. Sweating and panting I leaned against the wall, my hands shaking as I crossed my arms. I felt shaky from the anxiety of seeing all the blood and wrapping bandages around the patients, worried that I might hurt them. I straightened my back and looked over at Inez and Jackie, who were sitting on Matt's bed and leaning against each other. My eyes widened and I pushed myself off the wall. I ran towards the glass doors and pushed them open, running outside and towards the direction Matt and Higure ran off to earlier.

The wind hit my face, whistled in my ears and made my hair whip in my face. I ran, scouring the area of any signs of Matt. I could feel myself having an anxiety attack, something that I haven't had since my first time fighting. I slowed down and walked slowly as I attempted to push my anxiety away. Sweat dripped from my chin as my heart continued to race at an inhuman speed. I shook my head and wiped the sweat off my face and continued what  was doing earlier. After about 15 minute I saw Matt carrying someone while limping towards me. I ran over to him and wrapped my arms around him, careful not to put too much weight on him and not to crush the body he was carrying on his back. I broke away from him and got a good luck at him. Blood ran down his face and was still dripping. His clothes were torn enough to see cuts and bruises. Not to mention that his clothes were soaked with blood and he seemed to be putting most of his weight on his right leg. I looked at the person he was carrying and, at closer inspection, I realized it was Higure. I couldn't see his body to well but he looked pretty beat up nonetheless.

"Hey there, looks like you had some fun." Matt said, motioning towards my hands. I rolled my eyes and gave him a smug look saying, "I could say the same thing to you." Matt laughed and my stomach did a backflip. I grabbed his shoulders softly and leaned in closer to his face. I pressed my lips against Matt's and slowly kissed him bit by bit. Matt kissed me back and slipped his tongue into my mouth. I moved closer to him until our chests were touching. Matt's tongue searched the inside of my mouth, looking to see if there was anything different. I returned the favor and moved my hand to the back of his neck to bring him closer. We broke away, both panting and staring at each other. Matt smiled and said, "Well then, even though we both would like to continue that we should get back and help Higure out." I smiled and we trended back to the infirmary, talking about how it's been the last 5 years. I told him about all the lessons and training I did. Matt told me about the landscape and all the battles he had been through.

We slowed down when the infirmary came into view. We stopped in front of the glass doors, smiled at each other, and pushed the doors open. Inez and Jackie jumped down from Matt's bed and Towairaito ran over to us. She held Higure in her arms and went over to an empty bed. Inez went up to us and said, "I was so worried! What would have happened if there were still Hikaris out there? And Matt! You look horrible." She made weird hand gestures throughout her saying. Jackie put a hand on her shoulder to calm her down, something like a water droplet appeared on her head. "Don't worry about it! I'm unstoppable, as well as the one of the main characters so I can't die. Also, the water droplet that appeared on Jackie's head is called a sweatdrop." Matt said. We just stared at him dumbfounded about what he just said. Towairaito grabbed Matt's hand and dragged him over to his bed, forced him to sit down, took some bandages from the drawer, and started to wrap Matt up. Matt rolled his eyes but didn't do anything to stop her.
