why does it always fail

Kevins pov:
Kevin "leave sammy"
Sam "no I just want to talk buddy"
Kevin "I don't care leave or it will get ugly for you"
Sam "Oh really."
His friends move in till they are basically breathing on me then they grab me and throw me to the ground one of them has a bat that he hits across my ankles multiple times another has a metal bar that he hit my ribs and chest with the entire time that I'm on the ground taking the beating from Sammy's friends he stands there and watches
Sam "see Kevin I told you mess with the bitch and I'll kick your ass"
Kevin "she.... ow... isn't a.... ow.... bitch she a ...ow..... wonderful young.... ow..... lady"
Sam "wow Kevin you really like her don't you maybe we should beat her instead"
That gets me up I instantly stand and push Sammy's friends out the way as I charge and hit him with a powerful right hook that staggers him. As soon as he is down he is back up and giving me a solid hit to the stomach then to the side of my head as I fall his friends continue there assualt but they aren't as soft now they are hitting me so hard it cause me to bleed
Mindy's pov:
Kevin "she....ow.... isn't a.....ow.... bitch she is a....... ow...... wonderful young..... ow.... lady"
I can't believe he actually cares about me he really said that. I'm at a lose for words I can only watch as Kevin defends me even after though he is getting beat.
Sammy "wow Kev you really like her don't you maybe we should beat her instead"
as soon as the words had left his mouth Kevin was on Sammy hitting him across the face and making him fall back but Sammy acorriding to what Kevin said came back up and hit Kevin in the stomach and the side of the head. As the group started there assault again I could only watch as blood stained the ground and bones were heard cracking. It took all my strength not to break down and cry I can hear Kevin's screams of agony as they beat the life out of him. While I'm busy watching Kevin get beat to death Sammy walks over and stands right next to me
Sam "you know you are just a worthless bitch that will die alone nobody likes you not even Kevin you want to know why?"
Mindy "y-y-yes I I I I do"
Sam "awe are we sad that he is going to get beat to death too bad he doesn't like you because we are going to beat him till he doesn't"
Kevin "I........... won't........stop..........liking....... her..........you'll........have......to..........kill........me.........to......make.......me.........not........like.........her"
Sam "that's the plan kev I'm old friend"
Mindy "please stop"
Sam "sorry bitch but I won't"
They just won't stop beating him I can see his breathing getting slower as his body goes limp and his eyes roll into the back of his head. Nobody sees the officer that is walking up till he has his gun out pointed and is yelling
Police "drop the weapons on the ground and don't move"
I look up at the officer he looks over then back at the group that just stares at him in confusion
Police "I said drop the fucking weapons and get your asses on the ground now!!"
They listen this time especially since he put a his finger on the trigger as his expression hardened. They listen to the officer while he watches they toss there bat, pipe, stick, and knife down those are the only weapons that I see on the ground but I heard quite a few more fall on the ground as I look I can see the blood that stains most of the objects on the ground the bat and pipe have the most blood covering them. As more officers arrive an ambulence arrives as well I walk with the medics next to Kevin he is barely breathing his he us still bleeding heavily.
Mindy "will he be okay"
Med 1 "I don't know ma'am but we will do everything to make sure he is okay"
Mindy "please I don't want to lose him"
Medic 2 "I promise if there is anything that can prevent that I will make sure it is done"
Mindy "thank you"
They put him in the back of the ambulence I climb in with the medics they hook him to an iv line then place two blood bags to the line After they make sure he is sucered into the back the medics hooked him to a monitoring system. I sat next to the system and watched his chest slowly rise and fall blood still slowly coming out of some of his wounds as we rode along to the hospital the medics were by his side right along with me watching and making sure he was still with us. Three minutes before we got to the hospital he started to flat line I panicked and started crying and screaming at them to make sure he doesn't die as the medics furiously hooked up more blood bags and brought his pulse back.
Medic 1 "there we go sorry ma'am he lost so much blood his heart stopped momentarily"
Mindy "please don't let that happen again I can't lose him he is too special"
Medic 1 "we won't ma'am"
As we arrived at the hospital they brought him into a intensive care room and hooked him up to a bunch of different monitor that were keeping track of a bunch of different thimgs going on in his body one was monitoring his brain waves after about thirty minutes of me being in the hospital watching over Kevin the doctor comes in I don't notice till he speaks
Dr "good evening young lady how are you?"
Mindy "huh....Oh me I'm horrible and don't worry about me please just make sure that Kevin will make it"
Dr "it's my job to make sure everyone is in perfect health the police said that you were at the scene of the crime trying to stop the boys so I was making sure that you didn't get hurt and not tell the police since they might think that you were involved but enough about that I'll take care of your friend don't worry I'm the best here but don't tell anyone I said that."
Mindy "I don't care if your the worst ever just make sure he is okay!"
I didn't have any reason to be getting mad at the Dr but he was talking more than he was looking
Dr "okay a few quick questions how much do you know about this Kevin bentson?"
Mindy "I know he is on the football team and that is about it we just started talking today."
Dr "Oh okay so you don't know any if any of his allergies?"
Mindy "no sir I'm sorry"
Dr "that's okay I'll proceed from here"
He walked over to Kevin's bed and stared to stare at the different machines as he used stethascope to listen to kevins heart he wrote down quite a bit in a his little book then pulled away said he would be back in a few and left.
After waiting for an hour and the doctor not having returned yet my eyes grew heavy I looked over at Kevin saw he was still fine then I couldn't fight it anymore I fell asleep.
I don't know how long I was out but I was awoken by a loud siren and flashing lights as I opened my eyes I saw that Kevin was flat lining and the Dr and a few others were standing over him and pushing against his chest as they pumped oxygen into his lungs with that blue bag thing that they shove down peoples throats. I started to panic and cry as I watched the doctors work furiously to make sure he didn't die. It took them about five minutes to bring a pulse back the entire time I was broken down in tears my heart shattering the longer he was gone. After he was stabalized the Doctor that was in here to check everything turned to me and looked at my tear soaked shirt and smiled warmly to cheer me up but it didn't work so he went back to doctor
Dr brown "I'm sorry ma'am but it looks like your friend here isn't going to be waking up anytime soon he is in a coma we don't know how long he will be in the come but you can't stay here for ever you will have to go home unless a parent is here or the proper legal documents saying your allowed to stay have been signed"
Mindy "will he live is he going to heal"
Dr brown "yes but he'll have to have surgery on his chest lower back ribs his right femur and both his arms we has a lot of shattered bones"
Mindy "okay good I'll call my mom can I stay here till she gets here"
Dr brown "yes you can but like I said an adult or the legal documents have to here for you to stay after she gets here"
Mindy "I understand"
He left the room then leaving Kevin and me alone I walked over to him and looked over his body as I walk around him I gently ram my hand along his skin
Mindy "I'm so sorry kevin that because of some stupid Goth bitch you got beat up....... when this is over and your awake again I will leave and never put you in trouble again...... I'm so sorry...."
Tears pricked my eyes and my voice shook but I walked over to my purse and pulled out my phone just like I thought when I powered it back on I had three voice mails and about thirty missed calls I unlocked my phone dialed my moms nber and waited
Mom "MINDY SWEETY ITS YOU Oh sweety I've been worried sick where are you I'm coming to get you right now just tell me where your at and why you didn't call when we agreed you would call me"
Mindy "mom calm down I'm fine I'm at the hospital with Kevin a group of students had came up to us after the movie and jumped Kevin they beat his almost to death..........mom I'm scared I'm worried he won't make it......please tell me he'll be fine that he won't die....... he is in a coma...... they don't know how long he'll be in the coma......please mom don't take me away from him.......I need to be here if anything happens..."
I was crying and choking on my words but I still said everything I needed to
Mom "I won't take you away sweety and I promise you this the doctors will do everything nessacarry to keep him alive"
Mindy "thank you.......I love you mom.....I love Kevin too.....I don't want to lose him.....not like dad......I can't keep losing everyone........."
Mom "you won't lose him honey I promise now I'm on my way I'll be there in about thirty or so minutes"
Mindy "okay see when you get here..."
My mom hung up I put my phone back in my bag and sat down on the hospital bed next to Kevin as I watched his shallow and slow breathes I walked over to the chair sat down and then fell asleep again.
