Unfolding The Unplanned.Chapter 08: Peeing In The Wind.
(*) Lacey's Point Of View (*) – July 2017.
"Toby can you please turn down the music as I need to finish this." I ask Toby, and he obeys by my request as he turns the music down so I can concentrate on the task in hand and that is completing my assessment so I can hand it into my university tutor on time and then focus on the other work that I have to do for university.
"Sure darling, why don't you try and contact your university tutor and tell her that you need more time to do the assessment? You can tell them what happened with your family, that your Grandma has sadly died and that you need an extension on your assessment." Toby mentions to me, I whip my head up from my laptop and give Toby a confused look. He notices it in the rear-view mirror and talks, "You can tell them that you cannot give it in at the moment as you had to attend the funeral and be with her in her final stages." He continues, glances at me now and again as he needs to focus on the road.
Focusing back onto the task in hand, I continue to type quickly on my laptop, ignoring the sickness that I am feeling at the moment, I started to feel sick about twenty minutes ago and we have only been in the car for about thirty minutes. "I could do that I think. I just need to phone my tutor right and tell her?" I ask Toby and he nods his head. "I just need to finish this section first as it is in my head and I don't want to stop what I am doing at the moment and then forget this information later when I come to finish the work off." I inform Toby and he simply sighs – probably getting annoyed at me and still working while I am feeling sick. I hate traveling.
For the next ten minutes, I try and focus on my work and try and complete the work so I can send it to my tutor before we arrive at our destination and then I can connect to a free Wi-Fi somewhere so I can submit it to my tutor before the funeral and then the heavy weight will be lifted off my shoulders. However, this doesn't actually go as planned as for the next ten minutes I just feel sicker to the point where I can feel it coming up in my throat. I know I sound really weird and that is probably not what you want to read but its life, it's my life. "Toby. Stop the car, I feel sick." I suddenly, blurt out to him and he runs his hands through his hair – messing it up.
I close my laptop and place it between my legs on the floor, then I open the window so I can get fresh air in my lungs and hopefully not feel sick anymore but that doesn't happen so I place my head outside the window and throw up, trying not to let the sick hit the side of the car as Toby won't be happy that I got sick against the car. The rain hitting against my head at a high speed as we are going at a high speed and the rain is pounding down against the car.
"Just give me a few more minutes' darling. Try and keep it in and not get it on the side of the car baby." He states and I try and nod my head in response but I clamp a hand to my mouth, as I can feel the sick rising up in my throat and I am going to be sick now. I keep my hand to my mouth as I am trying to not make myself throw up again. I hate being sick, my head goes light and my legs feel weak, if I was standing up at this point, I would be on the ground, nearly fainting.
The car begins to slow down and Toby moves the car to the left hand side of the motorway so he is near the 'hard shoulder' section. "I am stopping baby now. Just keep it in your body for a few more minutes." He tries to reassure me but I just shake my head in response. The car stops as Toby turns into the hard shoulder section, its a little dip into the actually motorway where cars can stop and rest for an about half an hour before they get back onto the road.
Toby opens his side of the car and undoes his seatbelt – getting out of the car and getting hit by the rain. He quickly, comes over to my side of the car and opens the door for me, the rain getting me wet in the process. He reaches across me and unbuckles the seatbelt from around me. Grabbing my hand, he guides me out of the car and places a hand on the small of my back. "You okay darling. Do you need to be sick again?" He asks me and I nod my head in response.
