Chapter 3: Search and Rescue
(Tucker's POV)
I looked up the sky out of my window. The sun just went down, meaning that sooner or later I'll have to head over to Tom's to meet up for our boys' night. I unclipped the visor of my red blood mage armour, and slipped off the helmet. After I put it away, I slipped out of my chestplate, and pulled off my leggings. Finally, I kicked off my boots, leaving me in my regular day clothes. 'Hm. Some of this is unnecessary.' I took off my baseball cap and hung it on an armour stand, then shrugged off my backpack. After running a comb through my hair, I stepped outside and made sure to turn on the repulsive force field.
My communicator beeped, and Tom's face filled the screen. "Don't worry, I'm on my way, Tom."
"Dude! You take longer than Sonja sometimes!"
"Hey, I have a disadvantage. My armour is harder to take off than yours!"
He chuckled. "I guess so, Mr. Fancy Pants. Speaking of Sonja, she's cool with our plans for tonight, right?"
"Yeah. We're all good!" Truth be told, I hadn't even told her about our plans. Recently, she's been a bit over-protective. What I do isn't always her business, anyways.
I took out my air and bridge sigils, and sped off to Tom's place. I was there in seconds. Jumping off the bridge, I knocked on his door and leaned against the frame. There was a small crash, and I could faintly hear him yelling "Damn it, Terrance!" After a few more seconds, he opened the door while straightening his red tie.
I smirked. "Took you long enough."
"Shaddup, ya spoon." We took to the air, and went on our way to the Wizards' place, talking about random things along the way.
We reached the Wizards' town just as the last remnants of the sun was slipping away. "Hey," I turned to Tom. "Are you sure that Sparklez can't meet up with us?"
Tom's smile flickered for a second, before he shook his head. "Nah. He said he was getting some magic thingy for Martha tonight." I could see Phil from one of the house windows. "We could check to see if he's finished, thought."
"Sure. The more the merrier." I turned and held up a finger to Phil, indicating to give us a moment or two.
Tom frowned at his communicator. "That's weird." He kept tapping at it, obviously a bit bothered.
"What's up?"
"I can't call him. It keeps giving me this message of 'contact signal disrupted' and stuff." I shifted so that I could see over his shoulder. The icon indicating if his communicator was online was green, but it flickered on and off. Tom tried calling him, and the alleged message popped up on screen.
I ran a hand through my hair. "That's odd. Maybe he found a way to break it." Tom's frown deepened. Suddenly the air was filled with what only could be Dianite.
"You two seem disturbed. Is something wrong?"
Relief filled Tom's eyes. "Yeah, sorta. We can't seem to get ahold of Sparkly-Pants. Are you able to find him?"
There was a pause, and a deep silence set in. After a minute or two, the air stiffened. "No, I can't find him."
(Tom's POV)
Dianite's words hit me like a hammer. "What do you mean, you can't find him?" I screeched.
If Dianite still had a hand, it'd be on my shoulder. "Relax, boyo. It might just be me. Let's just go find Martha and possibly she'll find him."
