Chapter 8: Warnings and Nightmares

(Sparklez's POV)

The last thing I remember was wrapping my arm around Sonja, and laying my head back against the backboard, but when I opened my eyes I was in a dark, crumbling castle. "Oh, please tell me that someone just moved me here as a prank. This can't be another nightmare." I moaned. There was a slight chuckle from behind me, and I whipped around to see Andor leaning against one of the walls. "Andor!"

"Hey there, Sparklez. I never knew you were one to talk to yourself." I walked over and lightly punched his arm before leaning against the doorframe beside him.

"What can I say? It get lonely sometimes, with most of everyone gone in some form or another." Andor frowned a bit at that, and I quickly realized how that must have sounded. "I didn't mean to accuse you of anything! I think that it's great that you went out to see the world, or whatever you did out there." He came over to me and softly gripped my shoulder.

"Listen, Jordan," I sighed, knowing fully well that people only used my real name if it was something serious. "I have to be brief, before the real nightmare comes."

     "What do you-"

"On my trip," he interrupted, "An owl brought me a scroll containing both a brief message, and the means for a one-time passage into your mind. I know that Ianite died and all, but she must have-" he was cut off as a black, burning bullet struck him in the chest. Andor crumpled to the ground.

"Andor!" I yelled. He faded away, as well as the rest of the world as I was plunged into darkness. "Not again..." This time, however, I was surprised to find myself in a dimly-lit movie theater chair as opposed to the flaming maze. The only catch was that I was strapped down at my hands and ankles to the chair by metal cuffs and chains.

Without warning, the screen lit up. It showed a picture of all the Heroes, Wag, Martha, and even Steve. The edges of the photo blackened, then the whole picture was engulfed in shadows. The screen blackened, and was soon replaced with Tom from the shoulders up.

He waved.. "Hey, Sparklez! Want to go to the Twilight forest?" The shot zoomed out, and suddenly I could see him walking through the tall trees of the Twilight forest. The camera view seemed as if someone was walking beside him, so I could see his full body. Tom started talking about some prank he wanted to play on Tucker, when something at the top left of the screen caught my eye. It was a man, engulfed in flames from head to toe with a rapier in his hand. The man wore a tattered cape, v-neck shirt, with old-style peasant pants with thick-soled boots, and his hair was shaggy and deep red. He started dashing towards Tom, who was still talking, armourless, and completely ignorant of the man charging towards him at full speed.

"Tom!" I screeched. It made no effect, and soon enough the flaming man reached Tom and jabbed his weapon straight through Tom's heart. He cried in pain, and fell to the ground with an empty look in his eye. He was dead before he even hit the ground. Time seemed to go in fast forward, and I had to watch as Tom's body decayed and was eaten by the scavengers of the forest. It was gruesome, yet I found myself unable to close my eyes or look away.

After what seemed like an agonizing eternity, the screen faded to black again and was replaced with Wag outside his house, preparing to create a new spell. I had to watch as the same flaming man intercepted the process, and Wag was blown to pieces. One by one, it ran through the deaths of the people I cared for, fading to black at the end of each. Martha was cut apart by the burning man, using the kikoku. Tucker was set ablaze in his blood magic room, and slowly burned to death. Steve had his boat fireballed by the same horrible being, and he drowned.

With each death, I screamed, yelled, and sobbed, hoping that it would end. It never did, and now there was only one person left to die. The very same woman who I fell asleep holding in my arms. Sonja.

Steve's death ended, and I was bawling. It was getting hard to breath. The screen lit up again, but this time I was in the scene it played. I looked down, and noticed I was wearing a white suit with black shoes, a purple shirt, and my sunglasses perched on top of my head. I was in a church, and Sonja was walking towards me in a short, white lace dress with a veil over her brown hair, holding a bouquet of white and purple lillies and daisies. I tried to speak, to warn someone, or to personally take Sonja away from here, but I couldn't move.

Sonja reached where I was standing with the priest, and beamed at me. Declan started the marriage vows, and just after Sonja said 'I do', the church doors burst open. The wedding guests turned to look, but were frozen by means of some magic. Everyone was frozen, including myself, with the exception of Sonja and the same flaming murderer who was slowly walking up to her, swinging a cleaver in his hands. He seemed bored. Still, I was unable to move or speak. I was only able to watch and listen as Sonja started to tremble.

"Who are you? W-what have you done?!" She asked with a slight waver in her voice. 'No, no, no... please don't do what I think you will. What you did to everyone else."

The man looked me dead in the eyes. "We both know that I will." Before she could even react, he started to slice her with his cleaver. Everything around me faded to black, but her screams still rang in my ears.

(Sonja's POV)

I opened my eyes and was met with the dim glow of sunrise on the walls and floors. I was still snuggled into Jordan's side, and he was fast asleep. I layed there for a bit, just absorbing the warmth radiating off him, and the love he evoked in me. Every now and then he'd twitch, but I thought nothing of it.

His breath hitched and started coming out in gasps, and his body temperature started to rise quickly. Panic filled me, and I shook his shoulder. "J-Jordan?" I stammered. There was no response. His hands and legs started to shake, as if he was trying to run away from something but was unable to. Tears started flooding from his eyes, and he began to scream.

"Jordan!" I screamed, tears running down my own face. 'What's happening to him!?' I hurriedly took out my communicator, and punched Martha's name. 'I may not like her very much, but she might know what to do.' Her face filled the screen, and annoyance filled her eyes, though her mouth went up in a somewhat polite smile.

     "What is it, Sonja?"

"J-Jordan, he was sleeping but then he- I can't- I don't-" My mind was rushing a million miles an hour, and I was choking on my own sobs. Before Martha could ask again, Jordan's scream pierced the air once again, and her face was instantly covered with concern, confusion, and determination.

"I'm on my way. Keep him from getting hurt, but otherwise don't touch him." I rushed back to Jordan's side, and waited. He kept twitching, shaking, and screaming, and both his shirt and pillow were soaked with tears. The warping sounds of an enderman teleporting sounded beside me, and Martha forcefully pushed me away. "Get out. I need to figure out what's wrong, and I need as much space as possible."

"I'm right here to help, Martha." I felt Dianite's presence to my right, closer to the bed. Martha nodded, and I found myself teleported out in the field near my house. I instantly collapsed onto my knees. 'Jordan...'

I used my sleeve to wipe the tears from my eyes, and stood up. I knew that if I let myself wallow in my worry, then I'd truly break. Deciding to walk in order to settle my nerves and emotions, I started walking in the direction of Tucker's dojo. Though I never lived with him officially, I'd left a few things there for the times that I stayed overnight, and retrieving them will bide my time until Martha and Dianite are finished and I can see Jordan again.
