Chapter 4: The Commencement

(Sparklez's POV)

Darkness. There was nothing but black all around of me, deep enough that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. Well, I assumed it was in front of my face. I couldn't see otherwise. I took my sunglasses off and perched them on top of my head, then started walking towards absolutely nothing. 'If this is death, then I don't like it.' After walking for what felt like ages, a very small, soft ball of purple light appeared in front of me. I flew around me as though it were a tiny bug lazily sailing through the wind. Except here, there was none. Only the bug and I. I held my hand up, and it landed on my index finger before dissolving into a gentle string of flying light, twisting itself around my arm. It was calming. When it reached my shoulder it darted away, flying until it was a meter in front of me. The light merged back into a ball, and grew to the size of my fist. It kept going, glowing brighter and brighter, eventually forcing me to close my eyes. When the light blazing through my eyelids dimmed down enough, I opened my eyes again to find myself in a maze. The walls, ceiling and floors were a dark grey. It wasn't much better than the darkness I was in previously, but it was better. I started to walk forward. Three steps in, a voice rang out, bouncing off the many walls.

"Sparklez! Help!" It screamed. The voice was feminine, yet firm. Familiar. 'Oh Ianite, it can't be.'

"Capsize?" I called meekly. As soon as I said her name the whole maze lit ablaze, and Capsize's screams filled the air. I sprinted through the maze, turning corner after corner, and running down corridor after corridor. The fire followed me, and her voice kept calling me closer. Finally, I came to a room. It was large and circular, with pillars of chiseled quartz lining the walls, yet there was no roof to support. In the center of it all, suspended on a circular pedestal, was Capsize.

She smiled slightly. "You came, matey..."

I scrambled up to her. "Of course I did. I'd never do that to you."

"Oh, but you'd let her die?" A harsh and deeper voice came from behind me. I spun around.

"Furia?!" Before me stood the ex-general and Dianitee. His body still gave off sparks of fire and was dripping lava, as though he hadn't died. By a cow wand, no less. I was stunned for a brief moment, before rage encompassed me. "She wouldn't have died if you hadn't killed her!" He only laughed.

"Come now, Sparklez. Why are you mad? Women are so... so disposable! You should know that by now, since you so easily managed to lose both your captain lady and Ianite."  That was too far. I let out a cross between a grunt and a roar, and lunged at him. He teleported away just before my fist made contact with his face. I whipped around, ready to face him again, but stopped short. We were in the old Dianite's temple, and he had a sword drawn to Capsize's neck. I sucked in a breath.

"S-Sparklez?" She stuttered. 'No. No, no, no. Not again!"

"Furia," I said slowly, "Don't do this."

He yawned. "This whole killing people thing? Far too tiring." With that he removed the sword from her neck. Then stabbed her in the back.

"No!" I screamed. Furia vanished, and Capsize fell to the ground. I caught her just before she hit the ground, her eyes dulling rapidly. "Please, no. Not again..." I sobbed.

     "S-Spar-Sparklez?" Capsize coughed.

     "I-I'm here! I'm right here!"

"This... This is all your fault."

I woke with a start, sweat dripping down my face, gasping for breath. I was in my room, back inside my towers. "Wh- How? Wha-" I was interrupted by a hand clamping on to my mouth.
