Chapter 1

Ophelia sat in her desk and stared absently ahead of her at the board in the front of the classroom. Her teacher was droning on and on about something regarding the Civil War but Ophelia wasn't hearing a single word. She lived through the Civil War and wasn't going to listen to someone talk about fake shit that happened in so called "history books". She tapped her pen against her desk quickly and looked to the right of her. Danny Devito smelled of lingering cigarettes and strong cologne. She gagged as she looked at his utterly wide Italian body, wondering why the girls at this school decided he was the one to be seen with. The large glass paned windows to the left of her presented the view of the tall green pines and the lurking storm clouds above, she dropped her head into her hands.

She muttered to herself.

"Can this shit be over with already?". She scoffed.

She looked at the clock that hung over the door and saw that there was still ten more minutes left of this torture. Mr. Holland spoke in a very monotone manner, making it unbearable to listen to his speeches about why it's important to do your essays in time. Ten dreadful minutes later, the bell had finally rung, Ophelia sprung from her desk and fixed her red and black flannel, showing just the right amount of cleavage for school. She didn't care what other girls thought of her, she's lived through millennia dealing with stuck up bitches who tried to fuck with her.

She grabbed her bag from off the floor and confidently walked out of the classroom. Confident. That's definitely one word that she would use to describe herself. She knew she was incredibly gorgeous and she was more than aware that all of the guys in the hall stared at her as she sauntered down the hallway. She exited the school and put on her sunglasses as she walked toward her car. She searched quickly until she spotted her baby. Her black 2014 mustang GT sat covered in perfect droplets of rain. She unlocked it and smirked at a guy who was eyeing her as she sat down into the front seat. She threw her bag into the passenger seat and looked in her rearview mirror at her reflection. She pulled her dark red lipstick out of her purse and proceeded to touch up her lips that reminded her of the color of blood; her favorite color.

Ophelia was unlike any of the other people that lived in the small town of Seaside, Ophelia possessed a blessing and a curse that has lived within her for years. Ophelia was a Succubus; or a demon in a female form. She has walked the Earth for thousands of years, but she has yet to do much harm since the medieval period, she decided she didn't want to hurt anybody due to an accident that left her mentally exhausted. She was banished to Earth by Lucifer years ago, he decided keeping her in demon form on Earth would be punishment enough for her wrongdoings.

Ophelia sighed as she pictured her past like it was yesterday, taking in a deep breath her phone begins to vibrate.

"The daily call." She laughs a bit and grabs the phone from between her thighs.

Akai Convell was Ophelia's best friend from the moment she was drop kicked onto this Earth, he acted like her older brother that she never had. Kai was a werewolf, he always made sure to keep Ophelia safe and out of harm's way no matter what it came down to. He made sure to call her everyday after school to make sure she was on the road home. The two of them lived together in a small cabin just outside of Seaside in the hills that overlook the neighboring valley.

"Yes I'm on the road, yes I'll be home, quit worrying about me Wolfy." She smirked as she kept her focus on the pavement below.

"Let's go out to eat tonight, how about that new sushi place downtown?" Kai's voice radiated happiness through the phone.

"Fine, but I'm not paying this time." Ophelia said as she made a left turn.

"It's on me. You act like you pay all the time." He laughed.

"It's cause I do, I'll be home in a few and for the last time, stop worrying about me." She said slightly annoyed.

"I wouldn't have to worry if you stayed out of trouble." She could hear his protectiveness through the phone. It made her smile.

"Bye Wolfy." Ophelia  laughed and hung up the phone and threw it into the passenger seat and cranked up the radio. She rolled down the windows and enjoyed the cool breeze that whipped across her face and through her long brown hair.

Ophelia drove for the next ten minutes until she pulled up into the long gravel driveway in front of the cabin. Kai met her out front and got into the passenger seat and tossed her bag onto the floor in front of him. She smiled at his best friend.

"How was human school." He said, as he grimaced.

Kai did not go to high school like Ophelia did. He chose to stay home. This was partly due to the fact that he hated being around humans and partly because he spent most of the day with his pack. Kai was in a pack of other werewolves and spends most of his time patrolling the woods behind our house. Kai, along with his pack, protected the town from unwanted visitors.

"I answer that question the same every single day Kai. It was hell." She said as she put her car into reverse and pulled out of the drive way.

"That's funny because I thought you were born in Hell." Kai smirked, mocking her.

She rolled her eyes. "Cute." She smirked and headed in the direction of the sushi place.
