The next morning Ophelia woke up to her phone going off notifying her that she had received a text. She groggily looked at her screen and did not recognize the number.
Would you like to meet today to start our project?
What the hell? Ophelia knew who it was and she was not happy about it.
How did you get my number?!
Ms. Stratton gave it to me (:
Ophelia's anger was quickly rising.
Fine. You will not be coming near my house and nor do I want to go to yours so we can meet at the library. See you there in an hour.
Ophelia slammed her phone back down on her night stand and rolled onto her back and scowled. She fumed as she thought about the fact that she had to spend the majority of the day with an Angel of all things.
She shot up from her bed and stormed around the room as she got ready. She threw on a pair of black sweat pants and a red tank top and threw her hair into a messy bun. She didn't even do her make up. Ophelia didn't need to impress her.
She grabbed her purse and walked out and went to knock on Kai's door.
He opened it and she could tell he was about to go to the gym by his gym shorts and the fact that he was not wearing a shirt.
"Can I use your car?" She asked him.
"Oh now you're asking me? Cause yesterday you didn't" He said amused, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Well now I'm asking." She smiled politely.
"Well today is not your lucky day. I need to take my car to the gym."
"Well then that's perfect cause the library is right next to the gym." She turned around and left the house to get into his car. He followed behind and got in too.
"I didn't say I would drive you." He laughed and put the car in reverse anyways.
"So what's with the fancy get up." He asked, glancing in her direction. It was very rare that Ophelia ever went out of the house like this.
"I'm just studying, I don't need to be dressed up." The first part was a lie.
"Since when do you study at the library?" He asked, turning onto the main street.
"Since I needed quiet."
"The house is quiet." He countered.
"I needed a book on the Civil War." Another lie.
"You already know everything about the Civil War, you lived during it." He were pulling into the library parking lot and she picked her bag up off of the car floor.
"Is this question Ophelia day? Cause it's annoying." She opened the door and quickly got out of the store and walked into the library.
One thing was for sure, Kai could not see who Ophelia was going to meet today.
Ophelia spotted Ms. goody two shoes in the corner. She was in a white sundress today and had a coffee in her hand. Ophelia glared at her and stalked over to her grudgingly.
"Let's get this over with." Ophelia said as she threw her stuff into the seat opposite of Rhea.
"Good morning to you too." Rhea smiled at her.
Ophelia grunted and pulled the project packet out of her bag. She looked over the instructions and the requirements as Rhea did the same. Ophelia could not stop glaring at her the whole time but Rhea seemed unfazed. They came up with what they wanted to do for their project and quietly were researching on their laptops when Kai walked up.
"Hello ladies." He said smirking. Ophelia shot up and stepped in front of Kai protectively trying to shield him from Rhea but failing considering he was a good 7 inches taller than her.
Rhea smiled shyly at him and nodded her head as a greeting.
"We were just finishing up the research for our chemistry project." Ophelia haphazardly shoved her school stuff into her bag and grabbed Kai's arm, trying to pull him to the door so they could leave.
"What, I want to ask Rhea something." He pulled his arm from Ophelia's vice grip and she silently cursed to herself hating how much stronger he was than her.
"Would you like to get dinner sometime." He was staring at her as if she was a lost puppy. Ophelia was livid.
"That is not happening, get your ass in the car." Ophelia snapped but Kai ignored her.
"Um, actually I would love to." Rhea responded. Evidently, everyone was ignoring her.
"Um, no. Kai stop being a freaking idiot and let's go." Ophelia tried pulling his arm again but to no avail.
"Oh that's awesome. Here." he wrote down his number on one of Rhea's papers and touched her hand. Ophelia felt as if she was going to be sick. Rhea blushed.
Kai finally said goodbye to her and walked out the library doors with Ophelia fuming beside him.
He still had that stupid smile on his face when they got in the car and that's when she flipped.
"Are you kidding me?!" She screamed, whipping to the side to face him.
"Do you believe in fate, Ophelia?" He was stern as he turned on the car.
"Of course I do." Ophelia's voice was loud and full of rage.
"I had to listen to my gut feeling, baby girl. It was now or never, this was my chance to fix my fate."
She wanted to argue back but she shut her mouth. She looked over at him as he began
driving and saw that he had a grin from ear to ear plastered on his handsome face. She smiled slightly. Kai was the most important person in her life and she didn't want to lose that.
They drove in silence the remainder of the way home. She thought about how scared she was that she might lose Kai to that obnoxious, always smiling, Angel. What if Kai started dating her for real? She couldn't be around her, and he knew that.
Ophelia frowned as she felt her heart sink. She had a feeling she would lose him either way.
