I cant sleep.
I haven't eaten.
I haven't talked to anyone.
I just keep sitting in my car.
all I can see is my moms dead, and lifeless body in that hospital bed.
Joji has been trying to call me for hours, but I turned my phone off.
I've been sitting in the hospital parking lot.
They recommended I cremate my mom, so I can be with her, and she can be with me.
Its going to cost a lot, but it'll be worth it fir her, for our family to say goodbye.
I'm not flying back to Japan, I cant.
I have to stay here, for the funeral, and for court on behalf of my mom.
I went back to my house, and they allowed me to get my stuff.
The detective stopped me before I left the house.
"We found your moms killer. He wasn't good at this, he left a trail, and had all of this stuff in his home. Hes being charged with murder, and robbery." He said
I felt some relief."Whens the court date."
"We are having it as soon as possible, which is tomorrow." He said,"We also are going to help you with your funeral costs for your mother on behalf of the LVMPD."
I hugged him,"Thank you."
"My pleasure." He said
"Do you have a place to stay ?" He asked
I shook my head,"If my car counts then yes."
"Were cleaning up the home, and you can stay in it again, if you'd like." He said,"Remember court tomorrow at 8, you'll be speaking on behalf of your mother."
"Got it." I said shaking his hand.
I went back into my car, and sat there for hours until I was allowed to go back inside. It would be hard to step where my mother last laid.
My brother lives in Vegas, but he's distant from us. Hes going to live here, while I live in Japan.
He hasn't shown his face, nor even said anything to me about this situation.
The police knocked on my window, and I rolled it down,"You can go in there now."
He reached through and handed me the keys.
He left my car and they drove off.
Do I dare go back inside ?
I got the courage to get up.
I locked my car door, and slowly approached the door. Before I could get to the door, my moms old friend came to me.
"Ella." She whispered
I looked over, and she saw the despair in my eyes.
"How are you ?" She touched my arm, below my clearly visible tattoo.
I couldn't speak, I couldn't find the words anymore. Nothing is worth anything anymore. So what's the purpose.
I shrugged, and just stared lifelessly at her.
"I made you some cookies, just like how you liked them when I babysitted you." She said handing me a giant container of cookies.
I nodded at her, still lifeless.
