*Emma's POV*

November

"You're dating?!" Lauren, Haley, Payton, Carley, Blake, Zach, and Nick all ask in shock. Blake, of course, looks mad about this.

"We are!" I say. Yeah, Josh and I are dating now. We have been for about  week now.

"You two are so cute together!" Carley gushes.

"I can't think of anyone more perfect for you than Josh!" Payton squeals.

While the five of us girls talk about my new boyfriend, I can't help but notice Zach and Nick quietly saying something to Blake. He looks kind of sad about something.

I wonder what it is.

*Blake's POV*

She's dating Josh. I hope he's happy that he's with her. He better not ever hurt her, or I swear I will hurt him. I don't care that he's a senior and I'm a freshman, I will hurt him. No matter the consequences.

Yes, I like Emma. I can't even explain it or how I feel when I look at her, but I like it. It's a good feeling.

It's kind of sad that I only met her in September and I already like her so much. But we don't have a chance, we call home two totally different countries. Hers is England while mine is Australia. We only know each other because of school. Of course, we're not the first people and we certainly won't be the last.

Maybe I can "accidentally" miss when I'm supposed to play a certain sound effect when he's on stage, or maybe bump his volume controls for his microphone.

But then again, maybe I shouldn't. I'd probably get in trouble with Ms. Adams, and if Emma finds out that I messed with her boyfriend while he was performing, she'd probably never speak to me again. I'd really hate that.

In reality, I shouldn't do anything. For all I know, I could get expelled. I'd be in so much trouble with the school and perhaps more importantly, my parents. Yeah, that'd be really bad. Better not do anything. Even though I really want to.

One Week Later

Blake's been acting really weird lately. Like, he's been avoiding me. He used to sit right next to me in theater everyday, now he sits as far away from me as he can. At lunch, he sits as far away from me as the table allows. This is if none of us leave campus to get lunch, like we sometimes do.

So, what does a smart girl decide to do? Corner him.

"Blake, you have nowhere you can run now." I tell him.

"B-But-" he tries to say.

"Save the 'I'm the youngest' crap for someone who isn't the youngest in their family like I am. I have very similar survival instincts."

"What d'you want, Emma?"

"I want to know why you've been avoiding me for the past week."

He sighs. "It's complicated."

"How's it complicated?"

"It just is, okay?"

"You do realize that I might be the youngest in my family, but I do have several younger cousins, right? So, I do have pretty good interrogation skills."

"How many younger cousins do you have?"

"Ten, all on my dad's side. Now, interrogation time!"

"I plead the fifth!"

Damn you, Blake. Of course we've been learning about the fifth amendment to the American constitution in history recently.

"You're not getting off that easily." I warn him.

He gets a nervous look on his face and runs off.

I try to run after him, but he's too fast. I'm not a fast runner at all. In fact, I'm not really athletic at all. Unless you call theater a sport, in which case I'm very athletic.

"Damn you, Blake Hemmings." I mutter.

AN

Yeah, it's a short chapter, but after two pretty long ones, I think it's a well deserved short chapter.

Not much to say here other than I don't want to go back to school on Tuesday! Monday is my last day of summer vacation as a high school student. Scary thought there.

Even scarier though, I have to apply to colleges. Actually, it's not applying to colleges that's scary, it's wondering whether or not you'll get accepted. That's what's scary.

I've got no more to say here.

So, I leave you with a picture of Payton!

I love you my petite croissants!
