*Emma's POV*

November

We're almost to Thanksgiving break. I decide to spend it with my grandparets. I mean, I could've stayed on campus, like most of the international students do, but it'd be nice to see my grandparents-and potentially some of my aunts and uncles. It's coming up on two years since I last saw my grandparenst, and it's been almost a year since I last saw any of my aunts and uncles. Well, the ones that live in America, not the ones back in England.

Someone covers my eyes with their hands then. "Guess who!"

"I know that it's you, Josh." I say.

"How'd you know it was me?"

"I know your voice."

"Oh."

"It's been a couple of weeks since the last perfomance of the musical. I have to admit that I thought we wouldn't really last after that, but we have.

"So, I know that you're going to Texas for Thanksgiving. . . ." he starts.

"I know I am. Mostly because the break is a little too short for me to bother going home." I say.

"I know that. But, my parents told me to ask you this-even though I told them that you'd already decided that you were going to Texas."

"What is it?"

"They said that if you want to, you could join us for Thanksgiving."

"That really does mean a lot to me, Josh. It really does. But, it's been almost two years since I last saw my grandparents, and I honestly don't know how much longer they're going to be alive. I mean, they've gotta be in their late-70's."

"I know, and I get that."

"So, you understand my reasoning for turning your offer down?"

"I do."

"Okay." It's also because I already have my ticket and if I don't use it when my flight is sceduled for, it's worthless.

----

My plane finally lands at the Austin airport after two delays because of bad weather and then runway construction. It was storming in LA when the flight was supposed to take off and then the runway that we were supposed to use for landing was under construction. So my flight was delayed for a good two hours.

When I do get off my flight, it takes me a while to find my grandparents. Yeah, they both have their phones(some old people do have cell phones, my grandma's one of them), but we keep getting confused. I'm familiar with this airport, but I'm usually with my parents, who know it really well. Well, my mum knows it really well anyways.

"Emma! There you are!" grandma says when she sees me.

"Hi, grandma. Hi, grandpa." I say, hugging both of them.

"Glad you finally got here." grandpa says.

"Hehe. I didn't enjoy my delays any more than you did."

"So, do you have any luggage to get?" grandma asks.

"No, I managed to get everything into this." I show the the small suitcase that I decided to just use as a carryon. It just wasn't fun trying to get it into the overhead compartment. I actually had to get a stewardess to do it for me. Yeah, being short sucks.

"So, you been enjoying school?"

"Yeah, the fall musical went really well."

"I bet you were the lead." grandpa says.
