*Emma's POV*

Five Years Later

Five years ago, I was accepted to the Los Angeles Academy of Arts. Five years ago, I made some of the best friends I could ever have: Lauren, Carley, Haley, Payton, Zach, and Nick. Five years ago, I met the sweetest guy on the entire planet: Blake.

One year ago, we all graduated from LAAA. One year ago, we all went our separate ways (for the most part). One year ago was the last time that the Golden Eight, as my parents called us, was completely together.

Lauren? After we graduated, she and Zach broke up because they thought that it would be for the best. Three months later they realized that they made a stupid decision and got back together. A few months after that, she got signed by Warner Music (a real record label) as a pop-country singer. (Kinda country, kinda not) I can tell that when her debut album comes out in a few months, that she'll be big. She occasionally sends me clips of songs. They're amazing.

Carley? That girl, about a month after graduation, was signed to be the guitarist for some new female singer who's name I am currently drawing a blank on. What the rest of us find more impressive is the fact that she convinced Nick to stay in California with her.

Haley? She is a rising songwriter. I mean, at 14, she could write a better song that I will ever be able to. She talks to her birth father a lot, who happens to live in California now. Turns out that he didn't want to leave her, he wanted to leave her mother. But, it was the "both of us, or neither of us" situation. And since her mother was mad at him for leaving, she didn't allow him to see Haley. Ever.

Payton? She's at UC-Berkeley and studying journalism and broadcasting. I know that it seems weird for her to go to a high school for the arts and now she's working on that seems totally unrelated. But, they actually are.

Zach? Well, aside from the fact that after we graduated him and Lauren broke up and got back together a few months later, he's been working on becoming a television producer. In order to that, he needs a degree in it. So, he's at UC-San Francisco. He loves it there. I'm happy that he's enjoying what he's doing.

Nick? Well, after he finished complaining that he likes Minnesota weather better than California weather, he finally agreed to stay here with Carley. The two of them broke up junior year. But they got back together a little bit into senior year. Now he says that staying in California may just have been one of the best decisions he's ever made. I mean, he's working on becoming an actor. So far, he's just done small things, like commercials, guest appearances on TV shows, and small roles in movies. The shows he's appeared on are all really popular and the movies have all been big. I know that it's just gotta be a coincidence.

Blake? After convincing his mum, he stayed here in California. He's done a ung of things from guest appearances to recording demos. The guy can't make up his mind about what he wants to do. One moment he wants to be an actor, the next a singer. If I try to help him, he just gets even more confused. In my personal opinion, he should take the singer route because I know for a fact that Warner Music would love to sign him. *cough, cough* Thanks to Lauren! *cough, cough*

As for me, well I've been signed to do five seasons of a new show, The Mob. It's set in early 1950s Chicago. I'm a major character as the sister of one character and the lover of another. Very controversial. In the show, I mean. It's so much fun pretending I'm from another time that was almost 100 years ago now. We're actually in the middle of shooting the first season. It's so exciting!

My phone rings, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Hello." I answer.

"It's a girl!" I hear the very familiar voice of my brother say.
