*Emma's POV*

I barge into mine and Lauren's dorm room.

"Alright, Lauren Hayes, you told me back in, like, January that you would at least try to be in the end of year talent show. Well, the end of the year is almost here! You better have an act for me." I tell her.

"I do!" she says.

"So let's hear it."

"I want it to be a surprise."

"You're so stubborn!"

"Said the stubborn one. What're you performing?"

"It's a surprise!"

"Like I said."

"Haley said she's gonna try to perform something. All I know is that it's an older song."

"That could mean five years ago or the 1980s!"

"I know. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to practice my act if I want a chance of winning again."

"You won't be winning if I win!"

"Not a chance!"

"Yeah, right!"

I laugh and hear for the choir practice rooms.

On the way down to them, I run into Nick.

"Nick, what're you doing?" I ask him.

"You know where Carley is?" he asks me.

"Um, she's probably in her dorm. I know you know where that is. If she's not there, check the band room, or one of the practice rooms. If she's not in any of the places, then you're on your own."

"Okay. Thanks!"

"No problem!"

A little while later I run into Josh. Ugh!

"What d'you want?!" I snap.

"Look, I am so sorry about what I-" he starts.

"Josh, we are never, ever, EVER getting back together! We broke up in January, and I'll admit it, we lasted longer than I thought we would. Then, in February, I started dating Blake. And, let me tell you something! On day one of our relationship, I knew that it would be so much better than the one we had! Guess what?! I was right! Blake treats me like a princess, something you never did. Yeah, I called him and asshole the day we had detention, but I didn't really mean it. It was out of annoyance. But you, boy, are an asshole! I'm happy we broke up because it let me realize that the perfect guy for me was right in front of me! You know what else makes me happy? The fact that you, buddy, are graduating in a week! Oh, that makes me so happy!"

Before he can say anything else, I storm off, far ..away from him. He angers me so much! Just the mention of him makes my blood boil. Yes, even more than her.

I walk into the choir area and run into Zach.

"Emma, I made a big mistake." he says.

"What did you do?" I ask him.

"So, you know how earlier this year, Lauren liked me?"

"Oh my God!"

"Yeah. Now that she seems to have moved on, I've realized that I like her."

"Zachary Palmer, you are an idiot!"

"I know I am! What should I do?"

"I don't know. How about you ask her out. If she says yes, not all hope is lost."

"You are a genius! Thank you!" He quickly kisses me on the cheek, in a friendly manner, and scampers off to find her.

"What was that?" I hear Blake ask me.

I groan and turn around.

"So, now you're cheating on me?"

"Blake, I would never do that! You know that I wouldn't. I'm not that kind of girl!"

"So, what did happen?"

"Okay, so you may or may not know this, but earlier this year, Lauren liked Zach a lot. But, he didn't really like her. Now that she seems to have moved on and stopped liking him, he's realized that he does like her. So, he asked me what he should do and I told him to ask her out and if she says yes that not all hope is lost. He called me a genius, thanked me, and then kissed me on the cheek in a friendly manner."

"That's the real story?"

"Yes, that is the real story."

"I am such an idiot!"

"Hey, don't worry, I'd probably jump to conclusions if our situation was reversed."

"You would've?"

"Most likely. I mean, Blake, you know that I can be a very controlling woman."

"Yes, I know you can."

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I wish to practice my solo for the talent show. Hopefully, I don't run into any more people between here and a practice room."

"I'll make sure you don't."

"You sure as hell won't!"

"Why not?"

"I want my act to be a surprise!"

"Oh all right!"

"Thank you!" I quickly kiss him on the cheek and go to grab my music.

It took me nearly 20 minutes to go from my dorm room to my folder slot in the choir room. I'm clearly very popular today.
