Emily's POV:

So it's Christmas Eve, that first one with out Chris. The days have been lonelier, colder, quieter, but I have still found ways to not completely lose my mind. Mom is faking her happiness, mostly because she see's how upset I am. But this is supposed to be a great day, most 7 year olds are happier then ever on this day. Most of them.....

"Mom, I'm going to walk to Caleb's!" She didn't care, mostly because I live right next to him. My mom doesn't want to take my away from anyone that could make me a little happy.

"Okay sweetie, I love you!"

"I love you too."

I never leave without telling my mom I love her, or ever leave upset at someone. Since the last time I saw Chris I was yelling at him. My grandpa always said never to go to bed angry. He did and then my grandma passed away in her sleep, he never got to say goodbye. And neither did I.

When I got to Caleb's I knocked on the door. Mrs Katie opened the door.

"Oh honey, you don't need to knock. Caleb is downstairs in his room." Mrs Katie said.

"Okay, thank you so much."

I went down stairs and Caleb was playing Minecraft, as usual. When I came in he dropped everything.

"Hey Emily, are you excited that it's Christmas Eve?"
Caleb said very excitedly.

"I've been more happy before, but I'm excited to see you."

"Do you want a hug?" Caleb asked.

"Please."

I loved Caleb's hugs. They made you feel so safe, like nothing could ever hurt you. And I haven't had that feeling in a while.

"
"Caleb will you promise me something?"

"Anything Emily."

"Please never leave me, I need you in my life."

"Emily, I would never leave you."

I gotta go..... Thanks Caleb."

Caleb's POV:

"I gotta go..... Thanks Caleb." Emily said.

I wanted to tell her to stay, I wanted to tell her how I feel, but I can't. I always say I will. Next time I'll do, and then when it comes I can't say the words. It's to hard, and I don't want her to think I'm creepy.

"I'll walk you home." I said.

"Okay." Emily said. She actually seemed relieved that I was going with her.

When we got to her house I had enough courage to finally say it.....

"Emily...."
